Febco Ball Valve Packing AAARRGHH $%#^&

Does it irritate anyone else that the ball valve packing nut needs to be tightened on 75% of all NEW 765 series backflows?

I am sick and tired of the drips......at least now I check them before I leave the site...but I have replaced 100's of them in the last 2 seasons and most of them have this problem.....you would think they would be "leak-free" right out of the box...

Yup. Tightened up 2 of them today. And they weren't new. Well, maybe 3-5 years old. I hear ya brotha.

oh man... i was going to complain about the same thing today...

had the tighten a brand new one I installed today... and one a few days ago

Rings true for new gate valves also. The packing nuts need a little snugging up even when new.

Kind of makes you wish for gate valves on those PVBs - at least the packing on those can always be tightened without removing the handles.
