Holes in the XR-7 deck

I noticed there are eight (8) holes in the lip of the front edge of my XR-7 deck along with several open holes (square carriage bolt type) near the side discharge. What are these for? Do they support some option available or are they necessary for the decks functionality?

The ones under your front lip are for mounting a blow out baffle kit.
The ones near your side discharge are for mounting the Bac-Vac blower.
