Since we're going on about trimming hedges, how can I sharpen my hedgetrimmer attachment for my FS85? I remember one guy saying that an angle grinder could be used.

The place I had my hedge trimmer sharpened used a dremel tool, so I bought one and practiced on a old gas trimmer that I had andit works pretty good:blob3:

I have always had my hedgesaws professionally sharpened. It's just not worth messing up, or not getting it quite right so it doesn't cut proficiently.

It won't cost that much to go have it sharpened somehwere, but if you want to do it yourself, I'd use files by hand or a dremel tool. The angle grinder would take too much "meat" off your blade, and after a few times sharpening it, you'll have to get a new one.
Good Luck!

I take my echo to the dealer. He charges $30.00 to sharpen and adjust.

I use 7/32" chain saw files to touch ours up...seems to work pretty good especially in the field.

Nobody around here sharpens trimmers so one is on their own.
I have tried rotary file and flat file and find that flat file gets the job done best in quickest time without grinding half the blade away.

All u need is a die grinder. this tool is used with a compressor and u can do your own blades. You can buy a die grinder at any sears, home depot or any place that sells power tools for about $30.00:angel:

My dealer charges $30 and HE uses an angle grinder---but he has 30+ years experience.
I touch mine up in between with a flat file and it only takes about 10 min.
