In an earlier post I asked about the electric clutch on my Lazer not engageing when hot. I did some research and received some advice that I feel I must pass along. The seemingly very knowledgeable mechanic at the local Toro dealer said that I should not operate the machine in this condition. The clutch should be replaced immediately, due to the damage running the defective clutch could cause to the voltage regulator, alternator, and possibly the wiring harness. He also said that these units are now not adjustable or rebuildable. Older machines with the 3 adjusing screws can be adjusted, but parts are no longer available to rebuild them. It seems that the only solution is to buy a new clutch. If anyone else has any knowledge of this,I would appreciate verification. I hope this helps someone else from possibly doing damage to ther mower from running the defective clutch. P.S. These clutches are also used on other brands of mowers, so it might pay to take a look at your clutch to determine what you have.
