I purchased a new lesco 36" last week and the lowest it will cut is 2.75".
For some reason the engine is mounted to the lower holes. I'm a little worried
about having them fix it for me seeing the guy who showed me the mower had no clue how the thing ran. He actually told me that it was set up for a 3"
cut when it was actually set up for a 4" cut. He also told me to only run the engine at 1/4 throttle when cutting (????). I'm thinking about remounting the engine myself rather then let them touch it. I'm cutting at 2.5 rite now and work my way up to 3.25 and then down to 2.25 in the fall. Why would I want a mower that only cuts as low as 2.75.
Am i missing something or is there a purpose for setting up the mower up like this?

Owners Manual tells you what you need to do for height adjustment.

we hardly ever cut grass as low as 2.75". 3-4" in this area.

why did he tell you to just run it at 1/4 throttle:confused: Wide open!!!! JMO

read the height chart in the manual and check the spacers on the blade bolts.

there are 2 height charts in the manual, depending how the engine deck is bolted. The way it is bolted to the deck rite now my range is 2.75 to 4 inches. If the engine deck was on the upper holes my range would be 2 to 3.5.
I'm probably just being difficult but I would have like to be able to drop to 2.5 in the fall and up to 3.75 in the summer.

illday--although I believe you will be happy with that unit, if you are looking for a wide range of cutting heights, you may have purchased the wrong mower. good luck.

This is an excellent thread that helped me with cutting heights a few years ago.
