I would like your opinions please. I have been with JD for years, but I don't like my 04 797. It has a poor cut quality at 3" or higher. I handle properties from small yards to our local school system. A 72" is required. My JD dealer is dragging his feet about getting me a new series II machine to try so I have been thinking about going to Ferris. Maybe a 3100 with a 72" and a 32hp. If you have used Ferris PLEASE tell me what you like or dislike about the machines.

Thank you.

Anyone will tell ya I am Ferris's biggest fan.

I've purchased like 20 Ferris machines over the pat 13 years. They are extremely reliable machines and with the independent suspension, you can't beat it. Not too sure that the 3100 series you can get with a 72" deck (61") is what's available. I believe the 72" side or rear discharge is with the Cat engine, 5100 series, and the 4500 series can either be the Cat engine or 35 hp B&S with either a 61" or 72" deck.

Right now we have 7 Ferris machines.

The 72" deck is available on the 3100 series, but only with the 32hp Vanguard.

I used to be a Ferris fan, however, after talking with the rep again last week, I'm no longer a fan.

I had some serious issues with a mower 4 years ago, and the rep last week literally said that mower should have never been brought to the market. I had 2 of them.

They never wanted to deal with my warranty issues.

The rep last week was trying to tell me that their 3.99% after 12 months of no interest was better than Kubota's no interest for 3 years.

My Ferris was a wonderful ride, which is the reason I was toying with the idea giving them another shot.

Rep from Ferris, look at my location, and you said you've read this website. If you have, you can contact me again, and I'll give you a further opinion as to why I won't try your machine again, or ........ whatever I guess, maybe there ARE too many people on here that "complain too much".

See that, an old dog can be trained...I stand corrected. :)

We have a IS 3000 with a 61" deck and we love it. The ride is great and it cuts very good too. I would definately recommend one.

Have you considered a Grasshopper?
Years ago I worked for a guy who ran Grasshoppers and we did large parks and rec areas for a local city - they were excellent.

I have the IS 3000z and there is not another company that can touch this unit. I've demo the john deere, exmark & toro's biggger than 44" cut like sh*t to me. once you ride w/ the suspension you can't cut w/o it.
