I felt the same, at first, but somewhat understood how things came about after researching the issue. This day corresponds with May 1st in Mexico, which is a "legal" day of non-work. Most who work this day in Mexico are compensated at 2x the normal rate. It is a bit easier to take it as a cultural day off, rather than a assembled protest to the American economy.

I have to support my people who suffer so much... It's not anything against the US, we just want to show that we are needed. The US was started by immigrants and now the immigrants of this era aren't treated right when the country does need them, like it always will need immigrants.

I don't have a problem with anyone who has went through the trouble to become a legal citizen of the US, and who respects the country and what it stands for enough to learn the language (and use it), and work for a living (not live off of the peoples tax dollars).
But if all of the Illegal Immigrants want to take the day off, I'm all for it. It just makes it easier to know who is eligible for deportation or prison terms.

the whole debate is over ILLEGAL immigration...
as you stated this country was founded on immigrants..... LEGAL ONES.... not ones sneaking in and not paying taxes on thier incomes..
that is my main objection to this problem. The illegals use social services.. and cost the taxpayers money.. BUT they are paid cash and do not contribute to the social systems that they are benefiting from... this puts an unfair burden on those of us that work and pay taxes....
the same is true for ALL workers working for cash....

yeah but I was hearing a report on TV the other day about the ones who do not get paid cash and have fake socials. They can't claim it for themselves since they are illegal and there is billions of dollars from these that goes into everyone elses social. The US could stop illegal immigrants if they wanted to, but they don't because they are very useful for the economy. I do agree for the ones who get paid cash but that is only some and that's the employers fault. If the employer doesn't ask the immigrant to report their taxes ( fake ss, than it's not the employers fault if it's fake or what not) they are not going to say anything of course. I'm not supporting the use of fake ss's, but sadly that is the scenarios of illegal aliens. In a lot of cases they do take out money for taxes like I said before, even though they are illegal. I was just reading on another post about this guy that hired 3 guys and they couldn't handle it. Most americans don't like doing this hard work so they quit right away. Immigrants come to make money so they can feed their familys, that is it...

Also some decades ago, Black people were not treated right by most Americans in that time. Just like now, for some, it was thought that black people were less and didn't deserve the same things as the white americans. Now in this time of age, hard working immigrants, want to be treated normal just like black people did before. We're just fighting for the same civil and humane rights that any hard worker deserves willing to help the US, not destroy it. So like I keep saying, it's nothing against the USA, we just want what is humanely right.

We should tax the hell out of all money transfered from the US into Mexico, that would help keep a lot more of it in our economy, and make the ones who are here working want to flourish and establish themselves as citizens or at least residents here, not just migrant workers that dont assemilate into the larger culture. They would then be tax paying people just like the rest of us.

Which civil and humane rights is the organized boycott trying to achieve? I dont think I've seen this outlined yet. I thought this was just a protest of the congress' bill. And black people were brought here against their will, illegal immigrants CHOOSE to come and take advantage of our economy. It wouldn't be so bad if so many didnt send most of their money home.

Well, there is something to be said for hispanic immigrants, mexicans in particular. I can say nothing wrong about the majority that I have ever met... not even the ones who are illegals or 'work' the system for everything it's worth. I can't blame them.
But with all this being said, lets get real here... IMMIGRANTS OF ALL RACES, LEGAL OR ILLEGAL are overall a DRAIN/STRAIN on the US economy. And it is only allowed to go on because big business with big politicial pull wants a good supply of cheap labor. But now, it's grown in numbers to the point that it has became something even bigger than that...
It is now to the point that the immigrant population has become such a large voting block that although it is realized that something needs to be done... neither political party wants to loose their share of the immigrant voting block.

I don't blame them at all for taking advantage of the system provided to them though. Who can blame them? I sure don't. I blame the government.

"We want full amnesty, full legalization for anybody who is here (illegally)," Rodriguez said. "That is the message that is going to be played out across the country on May 1." - taken from an article I just read.
As I see it bottom line is if you are here ILLEGALLY you don’t deserve a damn thing, you need to go home or become legal.

Like I said, the problem lies in the fact that they send all of their earnings back to mexico.....that puts a real strain on the economy. The ones who deserve to stay here try to assimilate and prosper....they emigrate and respect where they are, some have no respect and are simply using the situation for building a nest egg back home, and utilize all of our social services and do not contribute any money back at all, while sending the value of their wages abroad...that can KILL our economy.....

Well that's not all of us, if there was a way they could be legal, they want the US to be their country and prosper. My family and myself came to this country illegaly was I was very young. My father went through a huge process but got us to be here legally. He set up a small landscaping business and now me and my brother run the whole thing. I still keep going to school to become a Landscape Architect in a few years. We send "NO" money back to Mexico because all our close family is here with us. We've managed to buy 2 houses, cars , trucks, and keep a pretty good business running. I also know a lot of familys like ours that have real good businesses here in NJ that don't send money to Mexico. My point is, if my people get a chance, they want to prosper and not be a drag to the country, but instead make it better.

You know if someone is here LEGALLY, I really don't care if they send money home. None of my business...if they're paying their taxes and are law-abiding citizens that's all I care about. You can spend your money on worse things than your family.

Either they are American citizens, or they are foreign criminals. Anyone who hasn't employed due diligence in screening their workers needs to be held accountable, also. I'll be damned if any non-American gets to not only take work from me AND use my tax dollars.
This isn't a Latino thing. It's Lithuanians, Nigerians, Italians, Germans, Russians, and Canadians. Anyone who illegally enters my United States deserves to be jailed and intensely investigated.
Of course, the topic is now with Mexicans, and I say that they need to go home.

I think if you want to be here, come here legally! It's funny how to fight to get here, yet alot of them hate Americans. Go to Mexico City alone.
Working at a funeral home I see these illegals almost daily. Every monday we get 2 or 3 in that were killed over the weekend. Some in drunk driving accidents, but usually shootings or stabbings. One good thing about them is they just kill each other, at least around here. They typically don't mess with white people..
Anyway, I think all illegals should be sent home! I have no problems with people who come here legally and pay taxes.
