Big Red, Little Red, the leaf muncher and the Green Machine.

It helps me sort things out. All of my teenage sons girlfriends get nicknames too, helps me sort those as well.

My reasoning is probably a carryover from the Navy where people get assigned nicknames or "call signs."

Thought of one I had, been meaning to post it...

When I had my 48" Walker GHS I frequently referred to it as "THE RETARTED TURTLE" Damn theing was so SLOW and wouldn't ever do what I needed, plus they look a lot like a big yellow turtle!

Of course now I have a 36" walker and love the thing! I always call it "the little Walker".

P&L turf hit it on the head with "PIECE OF CRAP, WHY DID I EVER BUY YOU!" I call everything I have that one time or another!

Well, Japanese motorcycles were often called Rice Rockets, so I guess my Honda mower would be a Rice Muncher.

My Walker? Maybe The Beast.

I've always called my fastest / best shape machine the sports mower, mainly because it's always the one I can do the best stunts with and also finish the job first.
As far as talking to them, I tend to say 'come on' quite a lot, 'OUCH' sometimes, and sometimes a few choice expletives.

Nothing fancy with the mowers, I call them the '98 and the '05 which is their year of make, but I named my cars the Soul Seeker and the Sentinel (plated SOULZKR and SENTNEL).

I am thinking my next one will be the Centurion (plated ZNTURI-N, but I so want another S-named car so as to not break the tradition, just can't think of a nifty name. Ahhh, I got a few years to figure it out since I'm still no millionaire.

I used to think that and most of the time the docility was there but as I got further down the road, there were a few times the Toro sure showed me right quick who was boss, I never tested or questioned the machine no more after that LOL.

I used to call my best-running mower the 'sports' mower mainly because the strongest one was always the most fun to do stunts with and also because to me, grass-cutting is a sport! Nowadays thou, the difference in performance between the '98 and '05 is so pronounced that it takes me so long to get used to operating either one that by the time I DO get used to it, I done lost all interest in the stunt and sport aspect of things, if that makes sense.

Oh there's another funny thing with my cars...

They're both older classic bmw's and they're both 3-series, thou one is a 318 and the other is a 325 - Basically the 325 has a 6-cylinder and the 318 a 4-cyl... Now for some odd reason I call the 6-cylinder the BIG beemer and the other the small one thou truth be known, they happen to be the exact same body style and hence the same size LOL.

I also haven't figured out if I want my next car to be another bmw or maybe I want to try an old Corvette, just to say I did.
I mean, look at this bad boy:
