Just out of curiosity how much do you think a person can/could make being a SOLO LCO? Primarily mowing, fert/weed control and maybe some misc. stuff like hedge trimming, tree/shrub install, mulch, etc. Working 5-6 days/wk 10-12hr days out in the field? I've been doing this stuff going on 7 years now and my best season I did $73K gross. I live in MN so our season starts some where in mid April thru Mid November. What do you think the max could/would be running solo?

milsaps -

I'm over by Forest Lake. Last summer I grossed $113k working between 60 and 100 hours / week all summer.

I did 2 mulch installs, 1 SMALL sod install, the rest is mowing / fertlizing / spraying.

I do all my work on contract in the summer, meaning the mowing / spraying, so I'm getting paid whether it rains or not.

Throw in snow removal and be a full service company I think a solo guy could gross 150K working their tail off.

10-12 ours in the field????.....man I would be ready to fall over. Me and my guys sometimes work 12 hours but I 've never done 12 by myself. When I was solo, I would do 8 maybe 9 if I was backed up.

I can gross about $60K solo doing mowing, cleanups, bushes trimmed etc. I work about 9 to 10 hrs a day. But it slows down in the summer.

I do offer the snow plowing and do it but I'm just wondering about the summer stuff. 150K is big for one guy if you can produce those #'s then more power to ya! But when do you have time to play or be with your kids?

I've been doing about $75K solo with cutting, cleanups, ferts (not licenced for pesticides), aerations and a little other stuff.

Honestly, I play double header softball games on Tuesday nights, and as long as everything goes okay, I can usually get by with working 1/4 day on Sunday, which is usually trying to finish up one of the schools.

My family knows I work (1) full time yearly job in 6 months, then basically have 6 months off.

I'll have 10 full days off in the summer time, but then I'll work 10 days in the off season when it snows.
