Can anybody tell me what type of gas mileage you guys are getting out of the 06 F250s with the 5.4 V8. Just wondering if it is a mistake to even look at these.

I don't know if it has changed all that much between the years. I have a 2002 F-250 5.4L and the best I have ever gotten is 13 MPG. I am currently getting 12.3 MPG :usflag:

With my 2006 F250 I wish I was getting 13mpg. Right now its more like 10 mpg tops, empty. I hope it gets better as it breaks in. My 2002 F250 got between 8-9 mpg pulling a enclosed trailer

Regular cab, Super or Crew Cab? 4x4 or 4x2? I don't think anyone can give you an exact number for what kind of mileage you will get, but knowing these things will help. My truck is a V10 CC 4x4 and I don't think the gas mileage numbers vary all that much between a V10 and a V8 in the same truck. I think they do vary a lot from RC to CC and from 4x2 to 4x4.

My CC 4x4 V10 auto with 4.30's averages 9.5mpg or so with the 4k lbs of trailer hooked to it about 50% of the time. With the trailer on for the whole tank, it will be roughly 8.8mpg. Without the trailer, it's right around 10.2mpg. That is almost entirely in-town driving since everything seems to be in-town now. In other words, you aren't but a few blocks at most from the next stop sign or light. The only real all-highway driving I have really done with it was brand new, coming back from NY when I bought it. The best tank was 13.62mpg on that trip. Surprisingly, that was not an all interstate tank and actually 1/4 tank of it or so was two-lane Blue Ridge Parkway driving.

This in no way would I guarantee, but I would expect you to see similar mileage with the 5.4 SC 4x4. On the highway, it would probably be a little better. On a side note, my truck is the most finicky about what gas goes in of anything I have ever owned. Not that it will run bad on different brands, but rather the mileage can vary widely if it gets a tank it doesn't like  I tends to like the cheapest thing you can find. Mpg will fall with Sunoco every time. And although it runs great on Chevron 87, it drinks it. And it seems every one of these trucks has it's own personality, so what works for me might not work for you.

Hope this helps somewhat.

I have an 02 F250 reg cab 2wd 5.4 auto 3.73 with an ARE aluminum topper, carry my rider, 21" wb, blower, trimmer, chainsaw, hand tools, fuel, etc. Run the a/c all the time here in Mississippi, and I get 12.9 MPG running all local, very minimal highway. Not really any higher than 13 on the highway.
The same truck, well an 06 supercab with the 6.0, auto, 3.73, 2wd, my dad has gets a minimum of 17 MPG, hauling trackloaders, skidsteers, hauling Porta Johns, and empty, runs about 80 MPH all the time. And its just getting broken in, should get closer to 20 once it gets over 10-15k miles on it.
