Shutoff backing up steep slope

I have a new exmark Lazer x HP 56. The engine shuts off when I back up a steep hill. It also will shut off when I am going down forward and reduce speed to a crawl. What is wrong?

Check the seat switch adjustment . It sounds like your weight is coming off the seat enough to allow the switch actuator to pop up.

I believe there is also a mercury safety switch that cuts out the engine in case of a roll over. There is a chance that this could be malfunctioning when the incline is steep enough. Just a thought, but a cheap fix. Just bypass it to see if it gets rid of the problem and replace it if thats the case.
