Do I run thru it??

I am patching an established but somewhat spotty lawn. I have core aerated , tine raked several times and vacuumed up the loosened debris. I have tilled a small area approx 30x30 and removed the dead sod. Replaced with top soil and raked it out. Added lime and starter fert.

Getting ready to slice seed and the question is do I run the seeder thru the patched area and the lawn ? Or rake in the seed into the topsoil by hand? Any suggestions ?

Also whats the best covering for the top soiled area? PENN Mulch, Straw?

Can't stand straw, blows everywhere, and makes a big mess. Used to use penn mulch, but now find that we like using peat moss better to cover. Works great.
