How do you figure how much gravel is needed? I figured it up like mulch and got the yards. I have never seen gravel sold by the yard, only by the ton. How much does a ton of gravel cover??? Is there a formula of yards per ton?

I think it is the same calculation..

It takes approx. 1 1/2 ton to equal 1 yard. I have figured asphalt that way for many years, here is a simple formula. L x W x T then divide by 27 = cubic yards. Once you have cubic yards multiply by 1.5 that will give you tons.

1 ton covers approx. 90sqf at 2 1/2" depth
