Last year I bought a set of these blades for my scag to use when The grass was growing soo fast. I thought they did a terrible job of cutting. Anyone else have the same problem that I did?

Most of us that use Gators, use them as a double blade. We use them along with a standard or high lift blade. The biggest reason I use them along with a high lift is, they don't slow down the rpm's like two standards or high lifts will.

I run the gator hi-lifts and the magnums on my walk-behinds and ztr's. I tried to use doubles, but it seemed that the rpm's dropped, and the engine was trying to bog down too much. Now I just run gators as singles, and think the quality is great, as long as the blades are sharp.
I have to admit, the regular gators, didn't have any lift at all to them, and did leave a poor cut, they seemed to cause the grass to clump too bad also. Try to get some magnums, I bet your mind will change once you've used them. There 25% thicker and have a 40% higher lift.

I tried to buy a set of lifts for my TORO, but they
said they do not stock them anymore. He got out a new Gator Magnum.
I use regular gators, but when I put them on, well I noticed a real
difference. The grass gets shot out the side about 1 foot farther
and there is a lot more suction. It pulled the creeping fesues right
straight up. It sucked up a piece of paper 2" away from the deck.
I will stick with these!

What do you mean by double?

We use Atomic high lifts. They look like Gators but are thicker. Quality of cut is first rate! Give them a try. I think you will be pleased with the results.

I hated the atomic blades. They must be made of
pot metal! Those things were dull after a few hrs
of mowing. The Gator Magnums are thicker and made
of much harder steel- I got a whole week done b4
they needed to be sharpened!!!:blob3:

I have used gators several times during the normal season and have never liked using them. The cut never seemed "up to par" for me. I'll stick to my regulars, however, gators in the fall for mulching leaves.....nothing beats em'!

Double as in double blades, two on each spindle. I have a page on this on my website, click the gif below and then click on double blades. There is an article and pictures included. :)
