I am working on a rainbird conroller for a 19 zone system and there is no output power coming from any of the modules. The contoller is acting normally though. There is power and all the other functions seem fine. Is this normal that all 3 modules could be damaged?

Is it possible it took a lighting strike?I have had this problem before it seems to happen after thunder storms.

I know this is 101 but has it been raining and if so is there a rain sensor.

Remove the battery from the controller and then see if it functions. Also check the ribbon strip connections.

Is there a fuse in that Rainbird timer? I'd say easiest would be to swap the module out.

Since he hasn't had a chance to try all the troubleshooting ideas, maybe those should be looked at before he starts replacing parts. May be something minor. Or just replace the whole controller and then see if the problem goes away.

Probably could replace all the drip lines too!.

Jab Jab Uppercut ;) Sorry She...my fault....

While he's at it perhaps a new electrical service?

I know this may be basic as well, but were you checking in DC instead of AC?

Thanks for all the responses. I am new to this stuff but my employee has done irrigation for over 5 years. He told me that he tried a new fuse and there was still nothing. Didn't have the multimeter with him at the time of the start-up. A new contoller is going to cost the guy over $500 so I want to make sure it isn't something stupid that is easy to fix. My guess is that the transformer is fried. The unit is an old rainbird and I am not sure if I can get parts for it.

Unfortunately (for your customer) controllers don't last forever. Some last longer than others but they'll all eventually take a dump.
