Hello all,

My partner (Tom) and I are brand spanking new to the business...Tom is actually on his first job right now as I'm writing this question to you:)
We live in one of the fastest growing counties in the country, new communities with homes and townhomes are being built daily. My question is, how soon can you mow newly laid sod?
Thank you for your response in advance.
Gloria

What type turf? Mow when it's 50% higher than the recommended mowing height.

Not too early. Go up and physically pull up on the sod. If it seems to be attached or "rooted in", you should be OK. But if it is new sod, it has probably been getting alot of water, which makes it more delicate. Be careful. Even if you usually use larger mowers, you may want to just use a 21" mower for the first few cuts. Also, cut the sod high (like 4" +) the first few times, and gradually lower your deck height.
