I just wear light tennis type work shoes. I have tried work boots but they are too heavy and hurt my knees and put blisters on my feet. Hard to walk rapidly with boots on.

Thats tough when you have to do a lot of walking like we do all day.
I have a pair of red wings boots with a soft bottom that are great for when using ladders and digging, but for mowing I have a pair of new ballance cross trainers and they do the job for me.

i wear the red wing logger boots. i use them for tree work, landscaping, and cutting grass. they have a big heel on them so you may want to wear them for a while when you first get em to get used to the heel. i cut grass with sulkies and ztr's so it doesnt bother me at all.

I also wear Redwing Logger boots. They are expensive, but worth every penny to me. There was no break in peroid, it felt like I had worn them all my life after the first day.

I wear a hightop steeltoe work boot sold by Mason shoes. The boot itself is made by Converse. The first couple of times I wore them they were stiff. I have had them for a year now and they are so comfortable. They are a little expensive but worth it. I am thinking of getting another pair and start breaking them in.
One note they are not weather proof. I wish they were. Nothing worse than to have cold wet feet.

I also wear Red Wings boots and socks(the only way to go) Be good to your feet!!! They are pricey and you have to resole them but the boots feel like they where made just for you. The leather will last a very long time if you oil them.

If your feet hurt, might be good to spend a few bucks on a visit to a podiatrist first. Long ago, by mid-June each year, the soles of my feet felt like they had been hammered all day. Really noticed it when I sat down after work. Turned out that I have shortened plantar facia (sp?), something like a ligament between the heel and toe. Podiatrist almost fell off his chair when I took my socks off, said he wondered how I even walked. He took impressions, made me orthodic inserts for my shoes/boots, and it was like I was a different person. At least a person with totally different feet. So don't always blame the boots or shoes!

i also have the redwing socks. but with the thinsulate that is already lining the boots, and the wool from the socks my feet just sweat way too much. i also have some other socks for the winter. wool ones big and thick. usually if i go and buy the summer socks, or winter ones they are around 14 dollars per pair. oh yeah, if you wind up getting the red wing socks, remember to hang dry them and not to put them into the drier. it is true that you can get them resoled. i think it is about 80 dollars or something? i just use em, and then throw em out after 2 years. how do you oil them? i have the stuff upstairs.

I too am looking for a good pair of boots. Went to the redwing webcite and found out they have a whole lot of shoes. For all you redwing owners.... can you tell me what the stock number is and if they are steel toes or not?

Check out the landscaping shoes put out by Husqvarna, real comfortable . I have had a pair for about three years now and would by another pair in a second. One of my employees just bought a pair for about $170 I think. I bought mine originaly because the were green in color (what a great idea) but now they only have them in tan.

I wore redwing loggers for many years and they are great boots.I now am wearing rocky brand loggers and have to say I like them much better than the redwings. They have a one piece sole, all leather construction ,and a goretex boot liner for about twenty bucks cheaper than the wings.

I've made up my mind to get the "Sahara Boots" from LL Bean. They're priced at approx. $60.00 and are marketed to perform better when the tempature rises. There web site is www.llbean.com. For now I use Tennis shoes- I'm in Tallahassee, so it's hot 10 months out of the year down here.

I wear Chippewah's. Have tried almost every brand. Rocky's are junk..like Craftsman mowers for your feet. You won't get one season out of them. I have one pair of Chippewah's that are 7 years old. Boots are like any other piece of equipment..you get what you pay for.

Just bought a pair of Rocky work boots. They are waterproof and uninsulated! They have been worth every penny in this wet couple of weeks in Wisconsin. Also, they are SUPER comfortable!!!!!
Same people that make Rocky hunting boots = quality!

Your feet are hurting you because you're hurting your feet. Yes, find something comfortable. Are you using a sulky?

I wear Hi Tec Magnum Midnites from Botach Tactical a Police supply company on the web. I waterproof them and they seem to last forever. They're light and inexpensive. Sometimes Botach has them on sale for as low as $29 Here's the link http://st45.yahoo.com/cgi-bin/nsearch?follow-pro=1&vwcatalog=botach&vwnitems=0&vwtotal=0.00&basket=5Cee130b8000781b3b0fdac4134d2c3130b8064aa5c183f920db580ecd392f902&et=3b116164&vwentropy=990894788&query=magnum%20midnite&unique=fdac4&catalog=botach&et=3b0fe1cc&basket=5Cee130b8000781b3b0fdac4134d2c3130b8064aa5c183f920db580ecd392f902

Just bought a pair of danners boots today...$190.00. Very comfy. Itried on about 10 pairs of the redwings but couldn't find anything I liked. I don't know how you guys can wear them...They weigh a ton. Going to wear them around the house a couple days to make sure they are ok. Good luck finding a pair, You just have to try on some and find the pair that fits you best.

You mentioned you had the logger boots. If yours are like mine, they are brushed leather and they listed for about $250. These boots, you just spray them with a water repellant. The Gortex liner in the boot is what makes them totaly water proof unless you puncture the Gortex. These are the most comfortable boots I've ever owned and in the past 58 years, I've owned a few. ;)
If they are just the regular leather Red Wing boots, you clean the leather and let them dry and then put on the Red Wing brush on oil or what ever you are using. I would give them 2 or 3 coats letting them dry in between if you haven't done them for awhile. Just stop by the Red Wing store, they will put on what every you need for free, but clean them up first. Our store does this for us at least. :)

Wear whatever feels good to you, but get a pair of
those Dr. Shoals inserts. Not the cheap little foam
ones, nah, get the $13.00 ones. Man, they really make
a difference. Velkies help too.;)
