2 small areas about 170 sq ft total nothing to be killed.. its good soil that needs to be tilled then have the sod put down

does a small section like that need to be rolled? and should the pieces be layered like bricks or just lay it down straight and the seams dont matter?

costs us 43 cents a sq ft and i cant see it taking more than an hour to install

what would you charge? we have never done sod before and saw some posts about 1-1.50 a sq ft installed

my opinion....

till it....rake it out, lay it out like bricks.....water the crap out of it.....I would charge $1 per foot to install.....plus, materials, and delivery if applicable..

that is for my working solo.......more guys...means you may need to charge more......

On all jobs I include travel time also.
If you can obtain everything for the job,go too the job, complete the job and cleanup and dispose of all debris from the job in an hour then 170 dollars is good for one person.
These little jobs never seem to go as fast as needed.
Rolling is really helpful for the sod to contact the soil for proper root growth.
We lay alot of Bermuda here and that stuff will root into a Gravel driveway.
Fescue really needs to be rolled.
For the small jobs the water filled portable ones work fine.
They are about a 100 bucks.
But by tilling the soil and leaving it pretty loose when laying it will have good soil contact anyway.
