I haven't got a business license yet, but there are probably 5 nurserys within 5 miles of my house. What discount should I expect off trees and plants and mulch?
The stone place a few miles away said a 15% discount.
Midnight mulch here costs $28/yd to the consumer do you think most places do 10-15% on that also?
There is no standard. It is a matter of at what value the retailer feels that he can place upon using the help of landscapers to help move his product. Some can not keep enough stock in to satisfy their retail customers. They have no reason to give you or anyone else a break.
Some will give you a graduated rate. The more amount of gross purchases you make from them, the higher your discount, up to a certain point. They will usually start you out next year with the rate you earned this year.
Some places have great volumes of product and have a wholesale rate and a retail rate. They vary widely.
