I am going to be doing a slice-seeding job, actually overseeding with a slice-seeder, onto a lawn that is thin. Would it be ok to mow it just before slice-seeding? What are the pros and cons of mowing vs not mowing? My plans are to mow it, put down starter fertilizer, then slice-seed.Thanks for any advice.

i mow it before. the machine will tear up the existing grass less that way.

Mow it first if it needs it.

Mow, cause you dont want to blow anything from one area to another with the mower.

It's much easier if you mow before. You can cruise through and not have to stop or lift the machine a tiny bit to kick out weak clippings, thatch, etc.

Mow first and mow low..Hold off on the starter fert till about a week before germination or you will be feeding the existing grass giving it a jump on the new plants...Aerate the (*(^&% out of it first with at least 10 holes per sq ft. The holes make a great place for new plants...
