I've heard a long time ago on Lawnsite that either one of the pulleys or springs were not big enough on the Lazer HP? Is this something I should worry about? Even if not, I would like to put a bigger one if it would help or ensure workabilty. What is the story with this story?! Can y'all enlighten me??? Explain please

Does anyone know anything about this?

Vibe,

Are you having a belt slipping problem? If not, I wouldn't suggest getting the bigger spring. This would, as it seems, place a greater side load on the pumps. Anytime you increase a side load on a shaft, the bearing life is shortened.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it!

No, Dixie. No belt slippage, just thought I'd put the bigger spring or pulley on before it does slip if it were going to. I thought I heard a few of you mention this before, noone out there know about it?

Vibe Ray,
I had a hydro belt slipping problem on my lazer hp.
it happened while bagging ,and climbing a hill.
I replaced the hydro drive belt and this cured the problem.
The belt after one season was in bad shape, cracks all over it.
I will now replace this belt every spring ,cheap insurance.
It was a chore changing it.but if it let go while mowing it
would have been more of a chore getting it onto the trailer.
If you have a lazer hp with a slipping belt it probably is
time for a new one. Nick:blob3:

Vibe Ray,
the situation I had was while mowing up a hill with ultra vac
bagging heavy wet grass, about three quarters of the way up ,going full bore the hp made a grrrrrrrr sound ,I could feel in the motion levers a dead sensation.I backed of the levers and it would continue on fine, only slipped when climbing full bore.the next day i replaced the hydro drive belt, now it is as new again.belt was about $22.oo
30 minutes labor to install.I would guess the added load of ultra vac
would also be a factor along with worn belt. Nick:rolleyes:
