My local dealer is having a sale on Shindaiwa's trimmers. His Shindaiwa T-230 would be about $220. I have a commercial Green Machine now and I am looking for another trimmer. Is the 230 powerful enough? Should I get a bigger one?
Thanks
LawnWorks

I like mine. They have plenty of power for daily use. They are light weight too. BTW that is a good deal, buy 2 :)

The only reason not to get one is becuse you don't have the money. They're great for edging and small clean up with a tri-star metal blade for higher grasses. I use this set up on very tall grass/weeds.
Have had my t 230 with 1 bar change out, 1 carb, the last 6 years. Still runs great once I get it started.
Jean
----------
J-LC Landscaping & Maintenance Gardening
C-27 Ca Contr# 770044

It depends, I have a Stihl F85 and broke my toro backup so I got a T230 because of the lighter weight. I like the F85 a little better seems like you can run it at 1/2 throttle as opposed to 3/4 to full on the T230 and the weight diffrence is only 2lbs. The T230 would be fine but if you do any heavy work nothing beats the F85.

The T-230 is a great string trimmer. The going rate for them with a bump-feed head in the central Maryland area is $229.00. If all you plan on cutting is residential/commercial properties that are maintained regularly then it is ideal.
Buy it ,good deal, you should run at full thottle anyway better for the clutch, and if you want more power go with the t-260 more power than the sthill f85 and lighter to

This is what ticks me off. Lawnworks is getting a T230 from his dealer for $220. Richard Martin says they are $229 in central Maryland. Here they were $269 but most dealers are now quoting $299. That's BS. I bought from Alamia just to get one for $239. I ended up mail ordering because local dealers will rape you, yet some users here will try to discourage mail order.
