Illegals .. p/h?

anyway, I was wondering what some "hear" illegals get p/h that work for others in the lawn biz around your area.

Around here they are getting $15 - $18 p/h in the green industry. I know they are making between $18k & $25k for the summer here because they will work all the overtime there is. BTW, the ones I know of are all paying taxes.

Around here they pay $8 per hour, some dont care if you have documentation or not, i know of some mexican guys who make up to $15-18 bucks a hour just being "supervisors", however i would not risk any business having a supervisor driving a company truck with no proper documentation, etc i know some of those guys dont even have a DL.

However here in Texas the landscaping company can avoid any fines by the INS by simply hiring the workers through staffing agency's "temps", the only thing is that you have to pay a little more, for instance if your going to pay $8per hour, you will have to pay the temp agency $13-$14/hour total, your not responsible for documentation as you are hiring them through a contracted staff agency.

From what I've heard around here they want $12 an hour and up. Of course I don't hire any illegals so this info may not be deemed reliable...

These guys are getting higher wages this year because there is a definite shortage of people. Wages in our area are $8 - $10 and you must insure you get them 40 hours or they will leave.

Lets have an understanding first because to an employer, there is not much of a difference between a real green card and an imitation.
I was just reading on Yahoo how legal immigrants are having to wait 5-10 years and longer for their applications to be processed in hopes to get the real papers while watching their comrades come in much faster with fake papers that look just as good.
Some may jump the proverbial fence but the smarter ones cross the border at the station with a straight face, and if the guard lets them through I would assume the papers look real enough, and who am I to assume they're not real?
So when it is very difficult even for an expert to see the difference, lets not expect employers to know what is and what is not real, the imitation green card looks highly legitimate and if I were an employer, I could not see shorting the Mexican senior on their hourly wage, sorry to say but green card is green card if it looks legit to me, I assume it is legit first and let the migra ask the stupid questions.

You can call the INS to verify a green card, you simply give them the number on the card, which takes about 3 minutes to verify. Once they verify it they will tell you its "active" or if its false they will tell you to tell the employee/applicant to contact them as soon as possible.

Also when you cross the border with your green card it has special features that the INS knows about, plus all they have to do is swipe it through the scanner to make sure its legit.

Then they wont tell you if the person is legal or not and they will preface their comment about having the person contact them by saying you could be fined if you fire the person. So what good does the number do, if the person crossed illegally they certainly are not going to contact the SSN office at your request.

Someone earlier mentioned if they are taking out tax's they must be legal, not true. They have fake SSN and the $$ is going into the system under someone else's name or possibly a nonexistent #. Everyone says thats all good but not so. With my last company I had a father call me in tears because someone in my company had a fake number it was his daughters. She needed a kidney transplant but could not get it because she did not have insurance and the state would not pay for it because according to the IRS she had showed tremendous income and was not considered indigent. Most likely the person who forged the paper used the same number on several sets of documents.

Illegals cause so many problems to so many people I can see no way the good they do out weighs the damage they cause. So you save a few bucks on labor big deal wait until you get in a collision with an un licensed,un insured illegal, that 2 bucks an hour wont seem like much. Wait until you have to take your child to an emergency room an you cant get a seat and the wait is 10-12 hours because the illegals us it as the Dr''s office. Or if your child is not getting the education you have paid for because the teachers are dealing with children who cannot even speak the language. If I seem bitter its because I live this crap day in and day out. Why, so the whole country can have cheap lettuce?

In the 80s it was 3-4 million now its 12 + million they think. What will it be like for your children? Do your part for our country and your children DO NOT HIRE ILLEGALS

Kingofbling is correct around here most are making $8.00 to $10.00 an hour.

For me the biggest issue is communication. Around here there is no desire to learn English. Why should there be when everything is repeated or printed in Spanish as well.

We will stay solo *me and my husband* forever before I would hire an illegal or even someone who is legal but doesn't care enough about this country to learn to speak English :usflag:
