View Full Version : tiny white bugs on Yews
i had to cut down some Yews today, to prep an another area for sod. i noticed they were covered in these tiny white bugs, that were crawling around, or just lieing almost dormant. some had burrowed into the trunk and branches.
i tried to get a pic, but the quality was sub-par. any idea on what these are? i looked up aphids, but didn't see this kind.
these are the suckers i had to cut down, and it a very tight area also... with a phone wire going through one if them!:hammerhead:

They are a soft scale. We have been seeing more of them around here in Crepe Myrtles, They have been so thick in numbers they completely cover the branches and the waste they produce covers everything in that sticky black residue (sooty Mold on their honey dew excretions).

We had them a few years back, if I remember right 2 apps of hort oil took care of them.
