Do you have a striping kit on that mower? If not those look pretty good, but of you do they seem light or the sun isnt to your back, maybe both.

Keep up the good work!

thanks for the compliment Daner!! I've got 2 yards, 1 on Monday, and the other on Friday that I'll take some pics of. Both of them mow up really well. My other yards look good to, they just arent big enough to really put a design in them. I had been putting diamonds in my parents yard, figured I would do something a little different this week :)

Thanks!
Turf Tracer 60. I have a Pro Slide, that is what I attribute the quality of the stripe to. The mower lays down a pretty nice one by itself, but the slide really lights them up. I swear by it, others laugh at me, including the guy that I bought the two that own off of.

Is there a category for "non-commercial" mowers? Anyways I opted to use the John Deere LT155 over the 727A. Doesn't stripe too badly on its own. The stripes are actually defined much better than it showd in the pictures- cloudy day. Probably should've blown the clippings from the edge of the driveway first, but oh well.

I am cutting at a true 3 1/4" up here in maryland. We have all cool season grass here. Its amazing the difference is cutting height between different mowers. After getting our cub tank and measuring the blade tips I realized our other mowers are wayyyyyyyy off on their cutting heights.

He gots my vote! Nice stripes man:weightlifter: What height are you cutting at? Got any more pictures?
Thanks! Here's a picture looking at the side/rear of my house (it's from last fall; it's the only other picture I have right now). I have 2 acres of 50/50 rye blue and I cut it at 3 3/4".

The thought came to me today somebody posted a comment, is striping a sign of professionalism and that home owners are striping their own lawns. Well if home owners are trying to stripe, then that means they notice our stripes, so anybody that argues that striping is a waste of time and nobody notices just look at home owners cutting their grass next time your out on your route, and know that you were noticed. KEEP ON STRIPING Guy and Gals.

You forgot to put in the LOL. Because you have got to be kidding.

If my lawns looked like that when I was done, I would not be posting pics.

You cannot tell me you do not see a BIG difference in mine and yours, and that doesn't favor you.

Please excuse Craig's Mowing and his ignorance. He doesn't realize that we all start somewhere. He also doesn't realize that we all start out looking up to people better than us and compare our work to theirs. In fact I would like to shake the hand of the person that cut a simmilar pattern to this at the Indy 500. I give them a lot of respect, I look up to them. They did a far better job than I did.

Instead of rideculeing them, why don't you offer them some advice, a helping hand. Because you are pull of yourself. So full of your self you failed to realize the pattern ptimealltime used. I thought it was a nice touch. Lose the ego and maybe you'll get some respect and actually get somewhere. Many of the stripes posted here are first place. There is a lot of talent in this post.

With that said Craig, you are just so jealous of my great work. Come to Fenton and I will teach you some tricks.

Notice that there is almost no overlap, my tire tracks are consistent, as are many lawns posted here, except yours.

SHOW ME BETTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If my lawns looked like that when i was done, I would not be posting pics. You can not tell me that you don't see a BIG difference in mine and yours, and that dosn't favor you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Keep up the good work everyone, I love what I see here.

Companies that go in and make it short in as little time as possible are most likely undercutters. Companies that go in and stripe it and make it look as good as possible are professionals. Professionals care about there work and put pride in to there work.

Your neighbors must hate cutting their lawn and then seeing how good yours looks right next door. Looks really good. Do you find that the double blades help with striping? Im thinking about doing that with my 48 Ferris

bretben55

DoetschOutdoor,
I've tried different combinations, between high lifts, regular lifts, and Gator blades. For my mower, I have noticed that the doubles help create a better stripe.
I also cut it pretty high, 3.5".

Not the best but I atleast got some in! this is with the 60" exmark no stripe kit at all, dont even know what the decks set at, 3.75" and it was kinda cloudy so they didn't show up as much. But they're there. First time doing a wavy pattern too, I kinda like the wavy pattern, going to try it on a commercial account I have that has a good 600' long stretch.

Oh it was kinda hard to tell in the pic. Being close to the trees like that you may have a high acidic soil. If it doesn't grow in well you may want to do a soil test. If it is to acidic you may want to spot treat it with a flowable fertilizer high in magnese and iorn.

As far as thickening the lawn up, Home depot rents out overseeders for I think $40 a day. An overseeder combined a verti-cutter with a drop seeder that loostens up the soil and areates it allowing the seed to drop into the siol and be emersed in water. Back the overseeding up with a bloom-starter fertilizer high in phosphate and it should thicken up in no time.

Ummm that lawn looks very rough? I am trying to figure out why it looks like that and thats the only explanation I can think of. I dont think if it was me that i would have posted that pic but please dont take it as an insult. For some reason the cut looks horrible but maybe its the type of grass or the fact that the lawn looks very rough and bumpy?

Its really hard to judge stripes because there are way to many variables to concider. A lush thick green spring lawn will stripe better than a lawn in the dead of summer. Sure you can stripe a half brown lawn but they wont look as nice as a lush green lawn and the stripes wont be as defined either. I have lawns that look fantastic in the spring but right now they arent looking so hot because of the drought.

Here is one taken today cut with the Gravely 34Z which normally looks amazing but with it browning out it doesnt look to good plus the car was in the way of where i needed to stand to take the pic.
