For you guys who come from parts of the world that have hot summers and mild winters... Do you ever overseed with cool-season grasses in the fall to keep the turf green almost all year, then, in late spring mow very low to reestablish the warm season grass?

Did some last year, want to do more this year on selected properties. It's the only time I get to mow that pretty grass and make stripes!

It's called the "transition zone" and we overseed in the fall with a "transition blend" of both cool and warm season grasses.

I overseed some of my St Augustine grass accounts in November with Rye grass. It looks like I'm back up north until the heat of April/May kills it off and the St Augustine comes back.

We do whatever the customer asks for. Some we overseed with rye, some get nothing, some get treated with a turf dye.
