Now I know most hate fliers but got to start somewhere.
Now I know it is a no no to mess with the mail box but how about puting the fliers in the paperbox just beside the mailbox.
I really have no idea so that is why I am asking I am not tring to find a loop hole. Thanks Joe

You cant mess with the mailbox at all.
Ive seen local chinese restaurants staple a rubberband to their flyer and hang on the door knob though.

A couple guys on the site here have heard from postmasters and I have an email and talked on the phone with the local postmaster and all said you can put flyers in the paper box area, just can't touch the mail box/the flag/the pole holding the box.
If you weren't allowed to put it in the paperbox, the paper companies wouldn't be allowed to either. Paper companies don't own or have any laws protecting the paperbox section, there for it's free game.

To be honest if your (person in general) to lazy to walk to my door and leave your flyer... then i wouldn't bother calling you anyway, you'll probably be the first to skip on me when it gets hot or the work is to much. Same goes for the ones that toss sh!t in the driveway, it's lazy & unprofessional, not to mention littering.
I'm not calling "you" lazy but getting business takes work, it doesn't just fall into your lap. Also when doing flyers by foot, my personal opinion, walking across yards is very rude and unprofessional. Someone is always watching and don't think for 1 min that neighbors dont tell each other.

You way better off with rubberbands... What happens when someone calls claiming your tape ruined my door by peeling the paint off... Going to just blow them off??? Persoanlly i'd be pissy and my front door is atleast 15 yrs old.
Your better off not putting yourself in that kind of situation.

No, I tape it to either a glass door, a window right next to the door, or just leave it in the door handle if it is a wooden door. Tape doesn't stick well to paint anyways :)

I talked to the postmast just a few months ago regarding this exact situation. Was told that if its on the post with the mailbox its a no,no.
Even newspaper holders are technically illegal. Why do they get away with it, I dont know.
But if you use the newspaper slot, and someone complains you will be in the wrong.

First off papers in this town are left on doorsteps, so you'll rarely see a paperbox in town here.
How does looking professional while out drumming up business make no sense...
So cutting across the lawns is a good idea? Your saving seconds while being very disrespectful!
Tossing trash in the drive or lawn with a so called flyer is professional? A customer has to pick up your trash and throw it away, and thats exactly how 99% will look at it.
It's called respect!!!
Be respectful to potential customers... If you think cutting through lawns saves you so much, you're sadly mistaken. You are more then likely losing more then just a few seconds here and there!
I really didn't comment on the paperbox... i was just giving my 2 cents on the other ways of distributing. The second person answered the question... "Paper companies don't own or have any laws protecting the paperbox section, there for it's free game."
But thats my opinion take it for what it's worth!

Soooo.....you were saying basically it's somehow lazy to leave a flyer anywhere but the door... That's why I said that makes no sense. Flyers can be either target or mass advertising depending on your needs. You just can't mass advertise by walking up to each door.
And we must have a bunch of lazy mailmen and paperboys...the paper goes on the driveway and the mail in the box by the street...

It's trashy and unprofessional... and quite frankly i don't think flyers or door hangers would get such a bad wrap if people didnt try sticking them anywhere they please.
Targeting an area is one thing... Mass advertising other then post cards by mail is trashy, and thats my opinion, no ones trying to convince you!
As far as the paper boy and mailman... if the paperboy can't take 2 extra seconds to put it on the porch then yes he's lazy.
For the mailmen most are lazy... more so the one's that drive... They feel hassled when they have to stop and get out to bring a package to the door because it wont fit in the precious little box... cry a river!
Along with mass advertising... People that leave flyers on cars in parking lots! Because most response to mass advertising is never good! Not only do they not want you messing with their auto... Now they have to throw your flyer away... thats if it doesnt end up on the ground, causing more litter for another business.
If it works for you... Great!
I just won't put my flyers anywhere it will fit, I value my business and potential customers more then that. Why would you want to disrespect a homeowner you are trying to target... That makes no sense! :dizzy:
Why not try newspaper inserts if you need mass advertising! One its going to save you time, yeah it may cost a bit but most times you can target certain areas.

Do a little research and find out what time the mailmen come in a particular neighborhood....then just go 5 mins after they leave and put them on the mailbox...just kidding
I roll all my fliers up with rubberbands and they simply WALK ON THE DRIVEWAY, not through the yard and wrap them around the door handle. Works for me and you dont have to hear about the post office threatening 5cents per flier they take down

Cut through lawns unless the owner is right there standing, it cuts your time in half. If they don't want people walking on their property they should get a fence not expect people to walk around.

Well I agree you just do whatever works for you...what may be acceptable or the norm in one area may not be in another area. And you can't please everyone...you might feel it's lazy to not put things on the door, while other homeowners would feel someone is trespassing by putting a flyer on the door. Personally I hate coming home, I got my hands full of things and I open the screen door and 3 flyers from pizza joints fall out. But everyone's different.
With flyering you're only going to get a very small response, so I don't worry about the 98%-99% of the people that don't like my flyer or how it was distributed.
The paperboy (and they are usually adults here) stopped putting them on the stoop a long time ago. Usually get delivered like 4-5am so I can't blame them for not wanting to walk their route.
