question on mulch

Why does the hardwood mulch stink and midnight doesn't?

midnight has charcoal helping the color along. charcoal is a natural odor filter. Ever heard of a charcaol filter? Hardwood emits an odor as it dries and decomposes. scary thing is, i kinda like the earthy smell. Dave g:confused:
