View Full Version : Accelerator on a Ferris 1500z

I'm thinking of putting an Accelerator on my Ferris 1500z. Most of the time, I expect to use the mower without the catcher attached, so I want to keep the side discharge deflector place (the Ferris has a soft rubber deflector). Though it folds up, my concern is if it will get in the way of the catcher even in the "up" position. I can remove it entirely, but then it would be a paint to take on and off regularly. So my question is will it work without having to take off the deflector or is there any other easy work-around?

As long as the deflector gets all the way up and out of the way (so you can get the catcher on with the deflector up), you can "slot out" the rubber deflector shield to allow the bracket to poke though the top of the deflector. Since the bracket is on top of the mower, the slot you cut in the deflector is not going to be a safety risk.

Thanks. My only concern is if there is enough clearance with the steel backet that the deflector mounts to. The ends of it are angled and I'm not sure if it will get in the way. Have you had any experience with this on a Ferris 1500z?

I doubt this will be a problem, if I am understanding you correctly. The mounting bracket is 1 inch wide by about 9 inches long, and mounts flush with the edge of the deck. I think the part that your are talking about is mounted back from the edge of the deck about 2 inches.
