What kind of shoes/boots do you mow in? I have a great pair of running shoes that work great on flat surfaces...:walking: but on a hill side there is no support. My steel toe boots give great support, but after walking a mile or so in them, they kinda get rough on the toes. Just wondering what everyone wears.

Walmart special steel toe boots. My current pair are way to square at the nose. Gonna get me a set of timberland pro's sometime soon. Why risk cutting your foot off if you dont have to ya?

Some old Air Jordans. Even though they were made for basketball, I have found that they are really some sturdy shoes to work in. Plus they match my uniforms!

Same here, you have to watch your feet but I can't wear those tough leather insulated boots in the 100+ degree weather, I can't stand the feel of HOT feet, not to mention how they stink after a day, no way.
Mine last 3-4 months, I get the $10 ones at Walmart, 2-3 sometimes 4 pairs a year I go through. Most of the time, the sole splits and water gets through, I hate it but that's what happens, most every single time.
I always wear them off-work when they're brand new, then when they get a little bit dirty they become work shoes as I get another new pair to wear during the off hours, I'm always looking good then.

I got a pair of Brahma's from Wal-Mart for 30 bux. I wanted steel toe but they didn't have them in my size. My next pair will probably be Red Wings.

Ditto. Legs get too tired with steal toes. I bought a brand new pair this spring ($170 bucks) and because they were so big I hit the brake and gas pedal and rear ended an amercian lol. No damage to my truck but she was traumatized until I cracked a joke, "welcome to canada" she was from washington.

Justin Brand 8" lacers w/ the little frilly thing on the toe. They have great ankle support and last FOREVER, if my feet weren't a little out of alignment, they would last longer, but i always wear the outside of the heel out first. o well.

Georgia steel toe boots. The first day I wore the pair I have now - I sliced the top with a 21". Glad I wasn't wearing tennis shoes.

I wear Columbia walking shoes there very comfortable and have semi smooth soles, which are great when you find those nasty little pet treasures in customers back yards.
I think they retail for $40 at Kohls department store.

I've tried the work boots, I couldn't stand them, I've tried hiking boots and didn't like them either. So right now I'm using an old pair of new balance running sneakers. along with 99% of the time i'm in shorts.

Same here! light, breath well and cheaper than boots! New Balance or the like for me and shorts! I wore pants last year and on a good hot day my pants got soaked and felt like I was dragging a ball and chain.

Danner low hiking shoes. good support. Excelent quality. i get a little over a year on them before I retire them to back up. Pay 50 bucks and it is way worth it. I will wear boots if the situation dictates it. However I feel that I can work longer with lighter shoes on rather than heavier boots.
I used to work in the Emergency room and have found if it is heavy enough or has a high blade tip speed there you are screwed weather it is steel toe or not. steel toe is fine for droping some light stuff but I find when I drop things my feet move quick.

Basic running shoes... I bought some steel toe boots but they are such a pain to walk around in, wayyy too heavy and not comfortable. Running shoes are very nice for weight reasons.

I wear Nike Dri-fit cross trainers during the really hot weather (most of the time) and Oakley Special Forces boots in the cooler seasons. These boots are as light as running shoes. Very durable and comfortable and worth every penny.

Tried many kinds of shoes over the years but Wolverine Durashock are hard to beat. This is a shoe that is light weight with good cushion and be used for light digging with shovel. These shoes don't get hard when they get wet. They run around $125 and will last almost a full year. You don't need these shoes if you mainly riding along.

I wear the Brahmas a few other members have mentioned. I wear the steel-toed versions...and so far, they work wonderfully. I've worn those for about 3 years, 1-2 pairs each year. For only $22 or so a pair...you can't go wrong. Just my thoughts!

irish setter 10" boots, i think redwing makes them. 800 gram thinsulate, but it doesn't bother me. they are more comfortable than tennis shoes (i have weird feet) for me. i also like rocky, but they are getting scarce around here.

I've tried cheap shoes and expensive shoes. Socks are important. Wool blend socks from Carhart work really well. Early this spring I got a pair of Terrains made by Ariat at Tractor Supply. They are really comfortable.
