I read on a thread a while back (through a search) that using salt would kill bamboo. I've got a client with a helluvalota bamboo. We cut it all down, knowing it would grow back. Anyone have any ideas on how to apply salt (if true) to it?

Rock salt will work, but nothing else will grow there either.

Best ways are cut it down, water, cut it down, water, etc. until it exhausts itself out .....

Or dig up all the roots (which are shallow), water, dig more, water, dig more.....

....you can do dig a trench, about 3 feet deep X about 2 feet wide and pour in concrete..[to contain it]....we had to use this method a few years ago.....after numerous attempts to eradicate it.....bamboo is planted in earthquake prone regions of the world to hold the ground on hillsides more or less intact when an earthquake happens, so good luck digging it all up.

you might get lucky with some of it when you cut it down by spraying Round-Up and then you won't get it all....
