Just a quicky (I hope).

Have diagnosed the fault with my starter clutch thingy (ball bearings slipping out of little housings) and have sourced a replacement. The only trouble is that I can't see how to remove the clutch mechanism off the central spoke.

Engine is a 959002 with Classic printed on the top casing. Any help would be very welcome. I'm hoping I don't require specialist tools etc.

Regards

Rick

b&s makes a tool for this part #19244 the part # for the clutch is 399671 please stay away for the after market clutch they cause more problems then they fix.however you dont need a special tool to take it off.use a chisle to take off it screws off counter clockwise.it has to be put back on tight.to hold the flywheel on. good luck.

I don't know if I'd use a chisel on the tabs, maybe a brass bar about 1/2" in diameter or even just a piece of flat bar to hit to loosen the clutch. I'd think using a chisel to put the new clutch on would might cut one of them off. Just my .02 worth.

By all means use a blunt instrument if you don't have a couple of strap wrenches or a big pair of channel-lock pliers. :hammerhead:
