i thought it was a typo on title as chevy had s10 and gmc had s15. did a search on net and had a few hits come back.

I found this:

This basically sums it up (taken from the site listed above):

"S-14 is the vin code for a 2WD Blazer. 4WD is T, Pick up is 13.. so a
4WD pick up is a T-14."

yeah, i saw that, too, when i was searching. mines a pick-up, though. 2wd, ext cab.

The GMC version of the s-10 was the s-15 could s-154 be a typo on the title?

it might just be a typo. bill of sale said s-14, too. it has the 5.7l engine in it. unless s-14 is the designation for the v-8 engine.

The 350 (or any V8) was NEVER offered in the S-10 or S-15.

Sounds to me that if it is truly an S-10 body, someone put a 350 in it and "named" it S-14 themselves.

^^^Bingo, that sounds to be the best explanation so far!

did you guys know that the 305 was origionally supposed to go in the s-10 but they opted out and made the 4.3L the option engine.

I had heard that before. I guy down the road from me had a little late 80's S10 single can shortbed. It was a very light truck, but he had a 5.0 in there with a posi-lock. That truck was fast and fun, but would never cut it working.

Well your all wrong... mostly...

My 88 S-10 title shows S-14 for the model (looking at it right now)

It's 4x4 AT and ext cab. and has the 4.3

A 350 or 305 was never offered factory, it's a common conversion.

Seriously i'm not sure why it's that way, I'll look on the s-10 forum later....

Actually these little trucks can hold there own working, when treated right. My old 85 lasted me all through high school and lets just say i was never kind to it... only thing that put it down was a illegal mexican totalled it and near killed me. So i beg to differ on little trucks in the working mans world. Thats strickly what i use mine for now... But i also know it's limits.

For what i gathered it's the DMV & Insurance code for all S-10/S-15 truck and blazers alike. Call them and ask but 10 to 1 you get the same answer.
Almost all S-10's should have S14 as the model on the title along with your insurance it just their way of identifying the vehicle. Seems there are a few that don't but no one seems to have an answer why.... atleast not that i have found.
