...at least I think. I was out mowing a few days ago and was winding the spool on a trimmer when a cop pulls up and motions for me. I walk over and he says, "How long have you been here?" I said,"about 20 minutes why?" He replies, "someone phoned in saying they heard a gunshot in this area about five minutes ago, did you hear anything?" I said, "no, I had the mowers running and couldn't hear anything over them, sorry." He said thanks and drove off. After he drove off, I realized when I shut off one of the ZTRs, it back fired, someone must have thought it was a gunshot. BTW, yes I do know you are suppoesed to let them idle to cool down to avoid back firing.

LOL I hear you, it's been many years since I've listened to mine and here the local guys scramble their comms but the state police does not... A lot of times it's so boring and mundane but from time to time, it's better than the tv show cops.

I was cleaning windows at the american consulates personal residence here in winnipeg just after the 911 attack. They had been transferred here from Isreal and there were RCMP plainclothes all over. Really polite, but the consulates wife seen me looking at this very ugly pottery in the house and she told me they were 3000 years old and came from the area where the dead sea scrolls were. Also that one of the cops knocked one over and it broke into several pieces, lol.

The next time I was cleaning the windows there the consulates wife (an american ofcourse) was having a war with the land lord so I was cleaning the windows so they could have a 4th of july party. 4th of july is nothing in canada but its important to these americans they were to have 500 ppl over and the land lord (a canadian) decided to inform them that he was repaving the drive way on july 4th, ROFL. It was so funny how mad she was. I talked to both the land lord who originally hired me and the consulate and his wife who hired me after that. When they would talk about each other I would just agree with them. I go ya she's crazy, lol.

Who do think gets those crazy calls? And yes we have to do something with those calls. Got stopped just after midnight one night, cop claims a breaklight was burnt out. Anyway mother-in-law was listening to scanner land, called my wife and wondered what I did.

I had the Police called on my about three weeks ago. There is an area on a property with several 3" stumps, a few dead sapplings, and dying hemlock (1/2 way up and half of the upper branches and about 8' tall). I received permission from the property owner to cut the stumps level with the ground and remove the dead/dying trees.

The property is on the edge of pleatuea with a steep back about 100' down to a main road. While removing a stump the neighbor came over and told me that the bank was sliding off the hill and I could not cut the trees. I told him I was leaving the root systems, just removing the top of the stumps and a dying tree. He told me that I could not cut the tree because it blocked the road noise. He told me that he would get an injunction ordering me to stop cutting trees. I told him it was a scrub tree. He said it was not, but all the trees were scrub trees. I gave him about 5-10 minutes of polite time and excused myself back to work. As I started my chain saw he asked me my name. I told him and then he wanted to know where I lived and I told him that he did not need to know that. He told me that he was going to call the police and they would make me stop and they would find out who I was. I told him the police could not do anything. I saw him approach my truck to get the registration.

Sure enough 15 minutes later I was speaking to a fellow officer. The man told him to file an injunction to stop the cutting. He was told that is a civil matter and the police will not get involved. He was asked who the property belonged to and he said the person I was working for. He was asked who the trees belonged to and he gave the same answer. He told the officer I was some hick who wanted to make a few buck with a fast and loude lawn mower.

He has no clue what my full-time job is and he does not recall I have handled complaints for him in the past either.

Oh well, that guy with his tree problem is just the kind I'm waiting for to come around this year so I can leave them a $60 dollar bill later as a 'consulting fee.' And yes, I'll follow it up with collections because that is just ridiculous, who do these people think they are, what do they think they're doing, and why...? I figure they got some kind of inferiority complex or negative outlook on life so they have to come talk down on us / try to ruin our day over some bs so they can feel REAL good about themselves later (like, I dun told THAT guy LOL), but I will not tolerate this stuff no more.

The other stuff about the cops being called because something got stolen or whatever it was, fine, no problem there.

But this thing with the pita neighbors, I done got real tired of that crap. So long they stay on the road or across the property line, nothing I can do but then I also don't care. Cross into my customer's yard and they belong to me.
