View Full Version : Tying down skidsteer in dump trailer

06-28-2006, 11:34 PM
Today I picked up my new dump trailer to replace the equipment trailer I hauled the skid-steer on.
My question is do most of you that use dumps to haul skid-steers tie them down?
My trailer is a Big Tex 12LX, there are no tie downs in the bed. I will probably be adding them.
On the equipment trailer I secured it with DOT chain and binders.

mine has 4 tie down point in the floor of the trailer.. Its a 7X14 trailer and the machine barely fits in it.

I think you answered your question to what you did before chain 4 points

The L&L dump trailer we have at work has 4 d-rings welded to the floor. If yours doesnt that would be the first thing I would do, weld one in each corner. I don't think DOT would really care if you had anywhere to tie down to or not if it wasn't tied in and you got stopped, not to mention the the insurance issue mentioned above.

why not just strap around the sides to under the frame?
