hey youngbuck, it just takes little time to get used to. When I switched from belt drives to hydro's I had the same problem, after a week or two with your new mower you will never go back.:usflag:

I've never run a hydro walk behind but our small Z with the narrow tires, possibly like your deck mower, is very touchy and precise. The big Dixons, with Parker pumps, wheel motors and wide tires are almost impossible to spin. I run our small Z with light pressure rather than actually moving the sticks. Just feel and practice and you should do fine. Hydros rule!!!:)

What is you're exact problem, when you say can't control it, is the unit not tracking straight. Give us a little more info on the lack of control you are experiencing from the mower. Is the mower leaving divots in the turf.

running a hydro takes a light touch. if you squeeze the lever al the way it will reverse. that is what it is designed to do to make slight turns or corrections just squeeze a little bit. the linkages are adjustable also so that you can make sure that both take the same amount of pressure to turn or reverse. take it easy and use a light touch and let the mower do the work.

Ditto on the light touch, Then again pistol grip and ECS style controlls are hard to get used to IMO. One more reason to love the Hustler controlls right paul...lol

With everyday use your will get the hang of it real fast.

Like PaulJ said. Just take it easy and squeeze the handles slow. You will get the hang of it.
