Anybody here about this truck? Is it going to be in the pick-up style like ford has theirs or is it going to be how Chevy and GMC has theirs?

After reading that article, it sounds like dodge did its homework! Can't wait to see them up close and I really want to drive one of them new cummins/6 speed combos!

From the artical posted Dodge is building a cab and chassis 1 ton big whoop its still a 1 ton truck with a 12,000lb gvw no big deal.

Its taken Dodge 18 years to realize there is a market for cab and chassis truck. Would I buy a Dodge not likely if the cab and chassis is going to be like their cheaply constructed P/U forget it.

If Dodge wasn't riding on Cummins reputation they wouldn't have any truck sales what so ever. People buy Dodge trucks because of the Cummins engine and thats about it.

that doesn't explain the number of 1500's I see on the road.....

lol... did a dodge pass on an uphill grade gravel rat?? My dang ol dodges just keep ticking. 300,089 miles and gets run hard everyday. How do you mean they "fall apart"? Since you have never had one... how would you know?

Oh and Dodge has always made a cab and chassis truck... I have one.

Yep, can't wait to go get a test drive! I bet it will beat both GM and Ford.

I just bought my 2005 Ram 1500 V8, thing has amazing power. I love it. I want to keep it till it doesnt run anymore, which I imagine will be over 300,000 miles. My uncle has a 96 1500 Ram. Doesnt care for it at all and the thing keeps going, 185,000 miles. Dodges Rule!!!:weightlifter:

Its going to have one nice ass drivetrain I can tell ya that much. It will be sporting a 6.7 liter cummins ISB with a 6 speed AISIN automatic transmission. Standard fuel tank is 52 gallons with a optional 20 gallon auxillary tank. The cummins is not a high output diesel, it is rated at 305hp // 610tq. They are taking advantage of bigger cylinders instead of more fuel. Im sure all that will come with a big price tag...

Anyone know the last year dodge offered a cab a chassis form the factory????

This would be my guess. Gravel has always had a big problem with Dodges, but at least I can see he's finally giving Cummins some credit. He used to bash both continually. Maybe another 10 years and he'll be giving Dodge the credit it deserves.

i believe they made them up until the 03 model change for the heavy duty trucks. i know a company that has an 02 extended cab 4x4 cummins 3500 stake body dump

They offered the 2500 and 3500 cab and chassie for 04-06 on special order. Problem was you could only get it with a regular cab and not the quad. It was basically a striped down version with man trans and rubber floor boards.

I personally can't wait for the new heavy duty Dodge trucks to come out. The new 6.7 Cummins is going to be an awesome motor with a ton of power. I somewhat agree with Gravel Rat in his statement regarding Dodge trucks. However, my personal opinion is that Dodge makes a quality truck with a great diesel engine. But it has its flaws, along with the new Chevy's and Ford's. I personally love my 04.5 Cummins and can't wait to put it to work this winter with my Western plow. It has tons of power and gets about 16mpg with mods to the motor.

That sounds about right, I have seen several of them in that year lately.

Talking about Dodge Longevity, The 1989 dakota I had had the 3.9 in it and had 208K still going strong when it was sold. I only sold it because it was to small of a truck but it did decent for what I needed it for!

How are the people up at Jeff D'amborsio I've heard of them but never been up that neck of the woods. Do they have good deals and stuff and do they have a large commercial truck inventory. Its hard to come by a true commercial truck dealer down my way.

jeff is huge hes a local guy who is always at one of his dealerships hes not off at his mansion relaxing hes selling trucks it think he has like 8 dealerships and his downingtown one specializes in trucks. i have never NEVER seen so many trucks at a dealership ever. i bought my truck there and the other two trucks we have we bought from private sellers and they both came from one of his lots at some point. all around theyre like any other dealership to deal with and their prices are fair too

They already offer them in thier sprinter vans. If they drop the cummins diesel, NO ONE will buy their 3/4 ton and up trucks. The cummins is the only benifit of owning a dodge I wouldnt trade that for a rolls royce jet turbine:nono:

Why not? Then you take the RR and trade it in for like 7 NEW dodges. :)

Freighliner, which is a division of daimler chrysler, runs the mercedes benz diesels in there M2 chassis. The chassis compare to the International 4300 series.

I have heard many good things about the mercedes engines, which include Long life, plenty of power and better fuel economy than a comparable CAT engine or DT466 engine.

Ok, because it is made by mercedes, you will need to have anything major repaired by mercedes. The diagnostics are bad enough when it comes to the onboard computer and requiring an OBDIII scanner but could you imagine it being mercedes made? You know they would make NOTHING simple to replace and they would go out of their way to make sure only a mercedes shop could repair the engine.

Mercedes has been the industry leader first with fuel injected gas engines, than with diesels.

They are still one of the few companys that offer direct cylinder injection gas engines.

I'd run a mercedes engine in a heart beat. I've got a buddy with a mercedes car with a diesel engine, he just rolled it over 300k miles (its a '82 I think), he is going to try for 500k with nothing but oil changes.
