Hello,
I'm very new to this industry and I have a few questions. First... is there a difference between lawn and turf?
I mean, I see turf magazine advertised here but is turf interchangable with lawn?
Thanks.

I never gave it much thought, I use the terms interchangeably myself as do a lot of people, but there is a difference:
A lawn is a field of cultivated and mowed grass.
Turf is the surface layer of ground containing a mat of grass and grass roots.
Hope that helps.

I always ASSumed 'turf' was rather short, weed free, rich green in color...well...turf:laugh:
'Lawn' meaning grass that most likely involves weeds somewhere in there in front and behind residential homes...
And 'Commercial' meaning any property that requires weekly maintenance around a business in a business environment...:usflag:

Lawn - A plot of grass, usually tended or mowed, as one around a residence or in a park or estate.
Turf - 1. A surface layer of earth containing a dense growth of grass and its matted roots; sod.
2. An artificial substitute for such a grassy layer, as on a playing field.
