Ladies and Gents...This is the time to show off your wildest stripes...NO Straight stripes in this contest...They have to be curvy wild stripes...or zig zag...something that will catch our eye.
We are looking for the woooooo factor soto speak...flags effects all that cool striping...Good luck all top 3 will be picked at the end of July.:dancing:

Hey Danier! Man I'm trying my best to keep up with you guys. Also I'm using an new Lazer XS not a Scag. It does a great job. I know alot of people dont like the new tritons, but I love it. I have a homemade roller on it, but it is almost like exmarks, but a little heavier. I am running out of ideas though with stripping any suggestions?

I have never seen a Lazer...I Don't think they seel them up here in Canada...But they look like a great machine...and i here all you guys from down in the states talk very highly of them...In any event its working good for you. Suggestions??...First of all we need rain here...It hasen t rained for 2 weeks now...annd the bit we got before that wasent too much at all...I,m cutting every 2nd week now ecept for the customers that water with sprinklers. I find it tough striping curves and fancy stuff...most of my big lawns have alot of beds all over...I don,t know where to stArt...LOL.

Yeah I know what you mean. We have been lucky down here, haven't missed a week since the start back in March. I know what you mean about bed, the yard I posted is quite large and open. It really makes it a lot easier to mow. I would say there is 2 acres there. Anyway I hope everyone else will send those pics in. I need some fresh ideas.

Kubota ZD28, July 7/6, no rain for 3 weeks, no irrigation. Sewer system is under this section of lawn.

LwnmwrMan22
07-10-2006, 11:56 AM
Same property, area where sewer system is not.

I know there's not supposed to be straight lines, but I liked the effect of how dry grass holds a stripe for so long, you can start getting the real diagonal, criss-cross, whatever patterns to hold more than 3-4 days.

I am racking my brain in trying to figure out which lawn of ours would be suitable to do some crazy stripe on. Most of our lawns are either to small or have to many obstacles to do any real odd ball stripes.

I used to think that curved stripes were primarly from a LCO that didnt care about getting lines straight but did want to make stripes. I tried several different curved stripe patterns yesterday and boy did they make my head hurt (the harder ones) and i was suppprised at the fact that i think they were harder to do then straight stripe patterns. I think ill have one next week (next time i mow the yard) that i can post on here if i remember my camera:hammerhead:

Wasn't there also something about no straight stripes? But If some one has a knock out checker Design...They May submit it also... if some straight stripes blend in with there bendy stripes that is all ok...The contest is based on how catchy your cut is...It all boils down at the end...and we will see who will be the champs this time around.:weightlifter:
Midnight July 31 is the dead line...No entries after that:nono: ...Then the 1 st........ 2nd and 3rd place winners will be announced shortly after that date.

Out till dark - sweet stripes! Didnt realize you could lay a checkerboard pattern with a w/b. For me, the previous weeks' stripes disappear since my w/b isnt as heavy as a rider to keep the pattern intact through the following cut.

Have you found that the rollers at the ends of the striper get worn quicker than the rollers towards the center?

Out till Dark - your mower and striping kit must weight a lot more than mine...that might be the reason why the pattern doesnt hold through a cut when I mow.

My kit weighs about 20 lbs...is that not enough?

And also, the drive tires on my 48" are not pushed out to the end of the deck like some mowers. Maybe that's one of the problems - mowers with tires out to the edge of the deck seem to have more defined stripes.

out till dark won the "contest", and while he should have won with those awesome pictures, I can't compete with a double cut like that, got no time! Still, I congratulate him. I would have to "stay out till dark" to double cut all my lawns, 24/7!
