Hey,

Just installed the greatest invention Ive ever seen, Fastraps! I have been fighting with ratchet straps since I started and I just had enough of them. I definitely recommend them if your tired of those darned ratchet straps!

Cheers

You strap things down with a velcro strap? I got something like that holding my leg brace on I also buy something like that for cords never thought about using them for anything else like ladders mower etc.

I bought a set a few weeks ago, from www.northerntool.com. They are great and easy to install. When you or if you order make sure you order two, they only have one in each box.

they look pretty nice....i made myself a home-made set using these two chalk-block-like things, and put them on a rope, so its literally two seconds to use these things....but those straps look nice

They are good, no velcro lol!. They use like a lever type device instead of a ratched and it does a surprisingly good job at securly holding the ztr tight. Heres some pics:

don't those things get in the way when you're transporting mulch / topsoil / leaves?

what about toe stubbing...

I dunno, i mean... I just set the parking brake and drive real nice and easy, haven't tied my Wb down in years.

Hey,

Well here if you don't tie things down the first fine is hefty. I don't want to know whats after that. The MTO wants it so that if you get in an accident your machinery will go nowhere. They don't get in the way at all since the metal plate is only an inch off the deck. If it really bothered me I could take out the 6 screws in about 30 seconds!

What about when you run over that fresh pile of dogcrap and its still on the tire?

Topsites, wait for the day you get in an accident (they're called accidents for a reason). I was in a major one 2 years ago with my trailer and had my machines strapped down and they still moved.

That's right, they still move, so what's the difference?

But the sides on most trailers I see are nowhere what mine are, so you can't do it if all you got is that 8-inch high steel bar runs all around, you need solid and tall sides.
I do have 2 foot high steel sides, I suppose one day I'll have to find a quick and dirty method to strap it down but what I'm saying is if the force is enough to send 300 pounds of mower over (or through) the side, it is likely also enough to break the strap(s) which is why I say, what's the difference...

That's with a 1-inch strap on a 300-pound machine... The sides on my trailer go past my knees when standing inside.
You'd need a LOT more strap than what I saw in those pictures to make sure the Z doesn't break them and go flying, too...
Looked to me like it's a 2-inch strap, both sides add up to 4 inches of strap to hold back how many pounds, at least 1,000 yes?
I'd say you need at least 6 if not 8 inches of strap for that kind of weight.

As an example, on that picture with the John Deere, the sides on my trailer would go just over the rear tires, they're a lot taller than what that red trailer has.

Hey,

These straps are rated at 800 pounds each and it say to use 2 per machine no matter how heavy (unless of course its over 1600 lbs). It does not list a breaking strength however my 1.5 inch ratchet straps have a load rating of 1100 pounds and breaking strength of 3300 lbs. The fast straps look more heavy duty then the ratchet straps so id say that they probably have a breaking strength of relatively the same. If there was no momentum I highly doubt the straps would break before the entire plate got ripped off the deck. IMO if I get in a head on collision at 120 Km/h these straps and the least of my concerns, anything short of that I know the mower will not move.

You americans are lucky you people know how to build roads, no such luck up here. We have massive dips in our roads, you're driving along then massive dip in the road and it almost makes you airborn. If my ladders wern't strapped down they would be projected, perhaps, out of the atmosphere. Only slighly exagerating. Our tax money is squandered, N. Dakota spends (i think) 5x per person on roads than whan manitoba spends and we pay higher taxes. :(

You never stop amazing me-- or some others too.
I know you have those belt drives but still --- have some respect for your equipment. (we strap everything and we have enclosed trailers) The bouncing and movement on the trailer is enough to destroy mowers and anything else.
Never leave anything loose-- Not to mention it is against the law.

To those buying these-- look in the box before you buy- My 1st batch had a cloth strap and works great-- the last 10 we bought had a yellow nylon strap and is very stiff and not as easy to use.

The day I installed the fastraps my wife handed me a roll of paper towels to put in the truck. She said you gonna need these.

I just put a couple paper towels over the dog sullied tire and strap it down. Keeps the strap clean and the tire dries up pretty fast.
