hi guys, this is a really easy question: about when do you do your last cuts of the year for those of you around milwaukee/chicago? i've been in the landscaping business for 5 years as an employee and this is my first year mowing lawns on my own. im trying to get a rough idea because ill be moving 30 miles away in mid september(school) so im trying to see for how long i will need to commute back here to service my accounts. spring looks like no problem.. 2nd week of april maybe... thanks alot for all the knowledge i've read on this site guys.

It all depends on the weather.

It all depends on the weather.

The weather plays a BIG part of it but we try and be done by the end of Oct. Then it's time to get geared up for cleanups.

i know it depends on the weather. what im looking for is a range of possibilities, or the average... yes.. the average. for my area of course. dcondon, your weather averages seem to be close to mine, so thats the most informative post. keep em comming guys, i know there is someone in my area or close to it on here. thanks

I'm in Green Bay and the last cuts are mid to late October but I blend the cuts in with leaf cleans. They will get charged for mowing but if there are leaves to deal with where our time is increased, the leaf clean charge kicks in.
Spring for us usually starts in early April. This year I started in the last week of March. Good Luck. Also go and visit our State forum here at this link.

I try to be done by mid-November (cutting and leaf clean ups). Normal fertilized and irrigated lawns will be dormant by then.

Here is mine at least for the last three years that I have kept track of.
2003 Oct. 27th..............2"-3" snow on Nov. 3rd.

2004 Nov. 6th................2"-4" snow on Nov. 27th.

2005 Oct. 29th...............Did not write it down on Calender.

Hope this helps some.
