never heard of them, but it looks like a good idea. I wouldn't mind trying one
except for the cost!

I just looked at those yesterday for our forklift drivers and wondered the same thing. The price is really high and I looked at a few vendors that swear that the gel in them stays cool a long time but I think when its this hot nothing will help more than a few minutes.

Here's a good one for you. Take a nice life vest and cut slots in it in multiple areas. Sow the cut hem and add a layer of disposable cooler foam to it. Now those early 90's ice packs (that used to be in the freezer and are now probably in some old cooler of yours) have a practicle use. It does work, but if your foam isn't the right thickness (around 1/16") it will be too hot or too cool.

Where do you wear them? wrist?around the neck i believe.. 4 hours a pop though. i don't think they would stay cool long enough for most lco's.

we tried those vest when i was in iraq. short and simple they suck. first you freeze your a** of for about 30 minutes because they are so cold and then after that thirty minutes and your body has recovered from hypothermia. you have about 45 minutes of actually being comfortable and then they are warm again. another cool simple condensation. so when you do actually take the vest off you are soaked like you have been sweating all day long. that is just what i want all of my customers to see me like. drenched in what they think is sweat.

what about that back pack blower i saw in another thread that blows air into your back, couldn't you rig up something like that with an electric motor for your ZTR?
