Well being that my 1st thread was kind of hijacked :) I will post here. Well today was the day, took me and a buddy 4 hours to complete, the pictures really don't do it justice but you will at least get the idea, I took the pictures before shaping up the edging also. This was my 1st design and install, the client was beyond happy so end result is thats all that really matters. But comments both good and bad are welcome :) *clinches for the blow*

ford is junk. chevy is over-priced.

before i bait most truck owners. ford over chevy. but i'd take dodge just because i'm use to jeeps.

LOL Yeah kind of hard to see how well it all looks without being there, with the older shrubs in the back kind of taking away from it all :) but yes, everything went well, probably could have used a few more mexi patun. but the client gave me a budget to work with and I got the most for what she wanted, she was loving it! :) even bought me an my buddy a 12 pk of hineys for after :) now thats tip i can live with!!!

Is everyone seeing the same pics as I am? Not being negative, but please describe exactly what you designed and installed. I hope I'm missing something in the pics.

I agree. I even pulled the B4 and After pics up and put them side by side and there is very little difference othe than a hack job trimming the shrubs. I can't believe this is the "quality" of work you have been carring on about how good you are or that the client thought it was quality work. I know you have only been at this about a month even though you changed your profile to 3 years for some reason, bu not to be mean, but to tell you the blount truth (which you ask for).......this job you did is pretty bad. It is NOTHING like what you eluded you were going to do.

Dude, being nice is one thing, but telling someone something, esp something he plans to do to make a living, looks good when in fact it doesn't isn't really helping him.

Just making sure people realize its a 1ST JOB. I sure remember my 1st job and it wasn't the best in the world. Im sure we all done some jobs like that in the begging of our careers.

i agree with mmlawn about providing constructive criticism.

however, i think he did good what he worked with. keeping it simple for your 1st landscaping design has some merit. can't show off, but can't screw up either. minimizing risk is a good thing to get the feel of it.

i felt like i screwed up with my job with my 2nd bed of annuals because i didn't keep the design simple enough. customer was happy, but i wasn't. i kept telling myself the areas that looked odd and could have been done better and should have just done simple.

i never got the impression he was bragging but more excited.

and out comes the dingle-berry from my buttocks...gee I thought I wiped you away and flushed u, but yet u still stick around! :)

I never changed my profile, i have owned my own business for a bit over a month but have over 5 years exp up north in NY, but I have no need to explain myself to you, as what was posted if you care to read is that the pictures were taken before the hedges were shaped up, I know I should have taken them after so you guys would have at least seen those looking good :)
But hey, we all still love ya MM :) sorry you're such an angry person, maybe you need to get some;) But I guess I opened myself up for that as I invited the bad comments along with the good ones. Thanks for being so Blunt to me MM can always count on you! :) at least I know your good at something. (now to retort on you :) nice spelling BTW shows your educational level. they do you have spell check you know for little busses like yourself *Carring is spelled carrying, Blount is spelled blunt*).

The design that was done was not the shape of the bedded area as that was already there, but for the placement of the new plants, not 100% full design but as was stated the client loved it and thats all that matters!

I do appreciate all your comments tho, so thanks for them. Every day is a learning experience for me in this business.

BUT his in his profile he claims 3 years experience......this isn't the quality of work that someone with 3 years of experience should have done.

I am not criticizing anyone's work here. I am just trying to figure out what he and his buddy did for four hours. He says it was a design and install job. From the pics, it looks more of a cleanup than anything. Everyone's first job is probably lacking in quality but he posted here for our professional opinions. By saying great job, looks great, etc, we're giving him the idea that this quality of work is professional. If indeed his pictures are a true reflection of this particular job, then he needs an honest assessment from which he can learn. IMO... his work quality has plenty of room for improvement.

personally, i thought just 2 hollies existed and he was putting more hollies and indian hawthornes into the bed. i felt that was almost as bad as a cheap builder install. the contrast was dull. i felt he did a better job after i realized he did less of the landscape design.

i would say that the society garlic is planted too close to the i/h and state this is why you should always include hedge trimming with your service. and that while it blends well, i might have tried a little more interest to do something with the rather dull holly and i/h. but that would have been more risky.

Thanks for your remarks, yes I never said I was great at what I do, yes I never said that i am an expert at designing and planning the way things should look, as stated this was my 1st time, the client had a fixed budget and she wanted something that would spread nicely as the Mexican Putuna's do, and wanted something that will grow back on its own and not have to worry about constantly replanting. So this was what I came up with, I am sure there are alot of other things I could have done to make this alot better, but based on her budget I worked with what I had, and with what knowledge I have, my 1st post I asked for other suggestions and didn't get any, just got comments that the plan looked good, so I went with what I had. I am happy with the results, the client was happy with them as well.
