Guys, What would cause a trimmer engine to surge at full throttle? The trimmer is an Echo SRM2601 the machine is about 8 years old. Is this machine past it's prime or does it still have some life left in it?
Thanks

What do you mean by surg? We probably get over 2000 on ours but a lot of maintenance goes into the units. I haven't had to give up any unit we have in that size, we buy new ones each year but the older ones are back up and still run fine.

When I pull the throttle trigger all the way up to full the RPM's just keep going up and down they don't stay steady.

Have you done anything to try to fix it? New spark plug, fuel filter, breather, air filter and ports cleaned for starters. Then you move to carb rebuilt kit making sure that you clean all passages including the jet which can be removed.
