This faces the wooded side yard.

Around the bench is also a driveway, garage, stone patio, and wooded backyard in the area. Lower part of the driveway bank shown is recently landscaped with gray owl juniper, pine straw, iris, daffodils, and existing boulders.

The area gets about 4-6 hours of full after noon sun.

I'm considering abelia and a jasmine tree. Is this correct to use fine texture and height to dress a bench in such a surrounding? Or would you suggest a more hardy camellia contrasted with the abelia?

Also, I'm wanting to add more highly saturated round-form foilage to the area. Especially those offering bright yellow, red, and green tones. I'm afraid of overdoing the contrast. Any suggestions here? I thought of american or japense boxwood but she doesn't seem to be a fan of those.

The existing plants are big blue liriope and deer eaten hostas.
