View Full Version : Bought a new Exmark Today...
08-05-2006, 10:48 PM
I don't like how Toro is setting up their walk behinds so I went with Exmark instead. I've only used it for 10 min... I'll test it out tomorrow. Better pics tomorrow also.

TTHP! you'll love it...i don't care for toro WBs either, i do like thier Zs though, nice new piece of equipment.

It looks really nice!
What is the deck size?
Also, how big is your trailer, 6x10?
08-05-2006, 10:58 PM
48" deck. I needed something to get into those tight spots and the small residentials better.
Trailer is 6.5X12 and its the perfect size for this combo. Not too tight and nothing left over.

Niice...youll love it a good friend of mine has one like that 48" and 19hp..and i LOVE that thing it is a really good walkbehind...what engine is on it looks like a kawi. but what size
08-06-2006, 10:15 AM
Looks like it says a 19hp?
08-06-2006, 11:54 AM
Its a 17 hp kawi. Its a 2002 model that was owned by a doctor to cut his own postage stamp lawn. The guy is a perfectionist and kept this machine in new condition. You can see my Toro behind it, the paint condition is no where near as good as this one and the exmark is 2 years older (but the toro actually gets used). It has less than 70 hours on it (was only used 17 hours a year). I think I got a great deal at $3300 for it. I couldn't have bought a comparable new lesco at that price and this is a much better machine.
Well thats the story on it. No pics today because its raining all day.
08-06-2006, 12:25 PM
Thats a great deal. New they're like $5200.
08-06-2006, 01:32 PM
Yeah it would have been $5400 + tax for a new one here. It cost him $30 per hour to run the machine + gas, up keep and time. He could have had his lawn cut by a service cheaper.

you gotta love them exmarks! :waving:

looks like alot of weight behind the wheels.. you sure its ok?
08-06-2006, 11:43 PM
Looks Like a great set-up!
08-06-2006, 11:57 PM
That guy must have been obsessed with that thing to keep it that clean.
08-07-2006, 12:20 AM
I wish I could find something like that around here. It looks brand new. Are you going to get a sulky/proslide?
08-07-2006, 01:12 AM
Petr51488: It is a good chunk of weight on the front of the trailer but the truck shouldn't have any problem with it.
J&R Landscaping: Thanks! :)
iluvscag: You should have seen how clean everything else was in this guys garage! He had a BMW, Ford F-150, a lifted CJ, Harley and a Volvo that were all spotless. This guy is really a perfectionist and he even said that. I love buying from those type of people!
Jazak: I will probably end up putting a sulky on it in the near future. I found this on ebay (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=008&item=180011239475&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&rd=1). Keep your eyes out there because now is the time to buy lawn mowers cheap! Not a lot of people are looking and there are quite a few people looking to sell.

Hey Alarsh Sweet mower. I have one question, Is that thing easy to use? I have a hydro 36in mower ( not an exmark) and it wears the crap out of me. Could you handle doing 15 or so lawns day in and out? Also is it easy to change the deck height on it? How long does it take? I don't mow all my lawns at the same height so, Thats why I wanted to know.

Its pretty darn easy to use with the dual hydros. The ECS controls are also very nice. One thing I noticed is it turns much faster and effortless compared to the Z. I don't have a sulky yet but i'm planning on getting one soon. As for 15 yards, I haven't done it yet, but I think its do-able with a sulky. Walking, I wouldn't want to do it.
Height adjustment isn't as big of a deal as I thought it would be. It takes about 30 seconds and I do it while the engine is warming up. Its not as quick and effortless as it is with the Z, but it isn't bad.
I really like this walk behind so far. Later in the week i'll have to see how it wears me out though. I'll get a set of jungle wheels on order.

awesome mower...so clean u really got a steal on this one...hope you gave the doc. a biz card or something lol....good luck with it

Thanks for the comments. I installed an hour meter on it today... Had to do some custom drilling and it looks pretty good. The part that sucks is when I was drilling I heated up the metal which caused the glue to evaporate. The white section is where there is no more glue.

08-08-2006, 06:28 PM

08-08-2006, 06:52 PM
alarsh what size trailer is that?
08-08-2006, 06:54 PM
never mind i saw what size it was in the thread sorry
08-08-2006, 10:25 PM
NICE man, and your 16/17 right? What is your total number of accounts?
08-08-2006, 10:29 PM
Dang Alarsh how do you keep your toro so clean..yours has more hours and is 1000 time cleaner then mine
08-08-2006, 10:39 PM
Yeah I'm 16. Turning 17 next week. I'm going north of 20 accounts now and growing rapidly. I have about 6-8 people that call me every few weeks for mowing when they get busy. 15 of those weekly accounts demand to be done either Thursday or Friday so that is why the purchase. If they wouldn't want it soo bad, I would have spread my lawns throughout the week and take them out after school.
The toro has 320 hours on it now. It doesn't always look that good. I cleaned it up for the pictures but I always blow it off after a days of mowing. If you look in post #14 where the anti-scalp wheel is, it has mud/dirt crap around it. That is what the whole deck was like before I cleaned it up. I was embarrassed when I got home looking at the toro & exmark next to each other. The Exmark was soo much cleaner and it was 2 years older so I decided to get the Toro some loving.
