Lawn Mower Junk Yard

I do not know of a lawn mower junk yard. I have seen snowmobile junk yards. When I first started peices were always falling off my homeowner mower, and I would find mowers set out for trash, and I proceeded to pick the bones clean.

My question. Are there any scrap yards for mowers around? It would be a cheap place to patch a mower together quick and cheaply. Or like Lawrence Stone, build one. It could be used to find discontinued parts for older models, bolts, individual blades, spare belts, decks, levers, you name it.

I never see a "dead" commercial mower staged for removal. Where do they go?

I think the reason you never see any junkyards with newer commercial mowers is because there are no 'dead ones'

Most guys hold onto mowers for a very long time, that or they just keep getting passed on from contractor to friend to friend. Plus, commercial mowers are still relatively new, 10-20 years only, so maybe in another decade or two you may see a few junk ones.

We have 'junk mower' yards around me, but they are filled old lawn tractors and push mowers. Those are everywhere.

While I was in North Carolina last year I did see a huge bicycle junk yard. There must have been 5,000 bikes in a huge pile. I've never seen anything like it! But then I also learned what happens to old school buses while I was down there too.

Just look out behind your dealers' buildings. 4 out of 5 I deal with have mower grave yards, both commercial and home owner models!!!

ok, the dealer i work for has a bone yard behind their shop, and under it. i dont know about taking parts for free though. usually they have a charge for that stuff i believe. i went to this one guys house who used to sell lawn mowers and he has a big junk yard there. all old lockes and tractors and push mowers. all rusting out and stuff.
