View Full Version : ford truck bogs when you give it gas

I have a 86 ford truck that bogs out when you give it gas and runs fine when you let off the gas pedal. Anybody knows what this can be from. Its 2.3 standard fuel injected.

Maybe your air/fuel filters are plugged solid or maybe an egr valve or maybe your carb is crap. In other words it could be many things. Do a full tune-up if you know how. It's a cheap way to eliminate potential problems. If you do the fuel filters, there might be one at the carb and one in-line along the frame. Also check for broken vacuum lines.

Fuel filter is first guess, air filter is second, third guess is carb gummed up.

I had this problem with my '87 Dodge Ram. The carb was gummed up, but it still did it a little. A new battery fixed it, so you might want to check on that, but I have no idea why a new battery would have anything to do with it other than a lack of power.
our 91 is doing the same thing and were thinking of doing a tune up on it soon so maby thats your problem too

Sounds like its not getting enough gas id replace your fuel filter first If that doesnt fix it then check your fuel pressure to make sure your fuel pump and regulator are working.

my 92 chevy does the same thing... it has 20k on the engine and fuel filter, the exhaust is old. Its really bad on a cold start in cold weather. I don't know what else the problem would be.
