I am trying to decide between a John Deere 2305 or a Kubota B7510. I will be installing a frontend loader and doing so light grading work. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I am a fan of John Deere. Kubota is good as well. Depends on the dealer, and their support.

Cant comment on the deere, i owned a 7500 for 6 seasons before jumping up to a larger machine. The 7510 is a proven machine for kubota, work the thing like a mule and it will ask for more, light, powerful, reliable, good on fuel, easy to service, the list goes on & on. The 7510 is a fine machine.

How do you like your new 2305 so far?

Were looking to buy the 2305 or the new JD 2320.

I'm very satisfied with the 2305. Everyone thinks bigger is better, and in some cases that is true, however in my lawn maintenance business the 2305 is perfect. When moving mulch I can drive down the side walk and not touch grass on either side. It will do more than you think! I can drive on grass with minimual effects and get in tight spaces I couldn't with a bigger tractor. I recently purchased a bushhog for it and it works great. Good luck and if I can answer anymore questions just let me know.

All right 021462... I appreciate the response and you got yourself a nice looking rig.

JD makes a good tractor. I like Kubota better. In my experience, Kubota's just need fewer repairs.

I'm sure you already know this but if you're going to be doing grading work, get a box blade, not a loader.

We'll be using it primary for mowing hillsides, but planning on some grading work. Hopefully a loader and grader box will be in the budget.

Nothing like a budget on grounds managment.

JD all the way. Much better service atleast near me and I think it outperforms the Kubota as I have used them both.

Has anyone had any issues with ground clearance?

kubota packs way more power into a lighter machine. Dont take my word, check the specks for yourself. My 3030 is 23 hp @ the pto, 30 engine hp. The same (approximately) tractor from deere power wise, is 1000 lbs more. This is not a gripe against deere, they build a fine machine. Light weight power is a plus when you are working on established turf.

I have a 4410 and the loader controls are very comfortable to use I tried a friends Kubota and it is nice but I do not like how the loader controls are set up

I feel the same way about the kubota joystick, i have the kubota remote loader control in my B3030, its a standard loader stick in the same location as the deere. I can run the loader all day long, with my elbow on the armrest.

Comparing a John Deere to a Kubota is like comparing a Harley Davidson motorcycle to a Kawasaki. Both are fine machines but with totally different image and appeal. There are two issues to address: What will it do and how does it make you feel by owning it? For many nothing has the history or image in the tractor industry of a John Deere. Very few will disagree. If you're going for feeling and image with a machine that actually gets the job done very well, John Deere with it's 2305 compact tractor gives you the whole package. I've also found John Deere's dealer support in America is first rate.

There is a reason all the rental companys (in the northeast) use kubotas. They could use deere, massey, new holland & several others, but they choose to use kubota!

I have the previous model the 4110 with mowing deck, loader, tiller, landscape rake, etc,,etc..etc.. And it high gear can mow reaaalll fast.

The turf tires and attachments make this a great landscape tool and I did the finish grade and all landscaping on my house which we built four years ago. I sold the wife on how much money it would save us and of course this will be my new truck until its paid for. I now have 350 hours on it and it has never been in the shop.

Check out the mowing quailty of this mini..

go with the kubota if the price is right there good tractors. I own a 5030 and love it. it has mad me a good amount of money, i have ran both throw and the john deere will not stay on a slop greater then a 5 to 1 the kubota will stay on a 4 to 1 . the john deere have the proplem of the front ends coming off the ground when the box is full (thats if you want a box blade big anuff to do anything) if you have the front loader off. stay away from the bush hog bran there not built to last. with in the frist year i had to replace both of the seal about 75 a pop

I purchased the Kubota B7510 (gear driven). It is an awesome little tractor. I have about 50 hours on it with no complaints. I liked alot of features on the John Deere but the Deere was $2000.00 more. The Kubota had more ground clearance and a higher loader height. If you could merge the Kubota and the John Deere together you would have the perfect tractor. I have done everything from bush-hogging to final grade work. It is small enough to get in tight places but strong enough to work with.

Agreed, the 7510 ia an awesome tractor! I ran one for six seasons before jumping up to the 3030. You can get a 7510 anywhere and she's light as a feather! My kubota dealer told me he sold a ton of 7500/7510 and they never came back with any serious problems!

The answer depends on what do you need a sub compact or a compact.

Nope it depends on whither he needs a compact or sub compact tractor.
The guy is asking between a subcompact and a compact.
The orig. posters question has nothing to do with tractor brand.

I don't know of any sub compact that will out perform a compact tractor including john deere sub compacts.

Sub compacts are almost useless in any serious lawn/landscape company. Their ground clearence is a joke, they bailey load a pickup and thier 3 point hitch is very limited. Great little rig for around the house but not good for much in serious green industry work.

Thanks _Yeah I know I caught it several minutes after I replied to you.
I missed it because I didn't catch that this was the original poster stating what he had finally purchased.
I just assumed it was another purchaser recommending what they had to him.

What has intrigued me about this whole thread is the appearance (judging by peoples replies) that nobody else caught the fact that the whole thread is and apples to oranges comparison.
Whenever that happens the facts and any meaningfully or accurate information is lost as it goes down the tubes.

1*Congrats you made the right choice. It was a no brainer; but I'm still wondering if you really know what class or type of tractor you bought!
2*In that case the JD was way over priced as it should have been less than the 7510.
You won't find a BX kubota priced higher than a b model.
JD has a weird pricing structure::
garden tractors priced higher than sub compacts and sub compacts priced more than compacts.
3*Of course it does but do you know why that is?
4*You can't combine the features of compact tractors with the features of sub compact tractors. It's a physical impossibility!
5*Suprising what the little tractors can do isn't it.
6* That's why they make em in those sizes.

You mean you're trying to figure out if you need a Subcompact or a Compact Tractor don't you?
In case you are not aware of it one of these tractors is a subcompact and the other one is a compact.
Do you have any Idea which one is which?

Bad Advice as you can go wrong with JD just like you can with any other brand.
In case you hadn't noticed the OP is inquiring about a Sub Compact and a Compact.
Would you recommend the Compact or the sub compact.
And which one of the 2 tractors is which?

These are the only Sub compact Tractors Made that I know of.
Kubota
BX1500
BX1830 BX1850
BX2230 BX2350
BX23 BX24

John Deere 2210 2305

Massey Ferguson
GC23 GC2310

The Kubota B series are compact tractors not Sub Compacts.
The JD 2305 is a Sub compact but the Kubota B 7510 is a compact.
Comparing them is an apples to oranges comparison as they are from 2 different classifications.
Nearly every reply in this thread has been based on this apples to oranges comparison thus resulting in meaningless distorted information.

Very small loader, very small backhoe (short), pto hp is perhaps 16 or 17, low ground clearence. This rig will be handy now and then for that small job in tight qtrs. Most of the time it will sit in the shop. It cant load dumptrucks, it cant lift a pallet of fert, it cant run big brush hoggs. Great rig for around the house, not really a pratical investment unless all your work is small jobs in tight qtrs. Maximum loader lift is 470 lbs?

Deere and Kubota are more alike than not - They need to be to stay competitive, in their market. Both build the industries most reliable machines.

They arent Harley's in the least, both or more like Kawasaki or any of the japanese machines who are known for longevity - Deeres image and Appeal along with Kubotas are going after the same audience - so they are more a like than not...

However the 2305 is a good suggestion, along with the 260BH (back hoe) can be used commerically
