D-Max is to be completely overhauled for the 07 version. Along with the emisions, more power , torque, better fuel mileage. http://www.worldcarfans.com/news.cfm/newsID/2060825.003/country/acf/generalmotors/gm's-2007-duramax-6.6l-v-8-turbo-diesel-revised

GM has other diesel developments up their sleave as well.http://www.freep.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20060825/BUSINESS01/608250334/1014

If it was up to them, they wouldn't have changed a thing engine wise between '06 and '07. It's the new emissions that are screwing everything up, every MFG has to pull something out of their bag of tricks to stay competitive.

Thats why Ford had to go to the 6.0 nightmare, now GM gets to deal with a year or 2 of nightmares.

Everything I've heard is the opposite. Experts are saying 1.5-2mpg less, less HP and less torque. It makes sense. If I was to disable EGR and do away with the CAT on my Duramax, it makes more power.

Specing our fire apparatus CATERPILLAR is saying the same thing: MUCH more money, less power and mpg.

Thats why I bought my 2006 today.

What's GM have up its sleeve??

How about ensuring that it doesn't go bankrupt?

Just maybe they're listening to the public....who have been screaming for power and efficiency.

Here is a link from diesel page. We shall see how the 07 D-Max ultimately pans out.

We purchased a new fire truck earlier this year and was going to get a cat, but because it didnt meet the emisions specs it had a 10,000 dollar penalty on that engine. I was glad, Ive never been a Cat fan, we ended up with a good ole Cummins.
